"During our vacation in the area, my wife and I decided to visit Bean Brew on Saturday, August 12th around 1:30pm. My wife went in to secure a table while I quickly popped into the nearby sweet shop. Upon my return with the kids, we found my wife already seated inside near the entrance. She mentioned that there was a 20-minute wait for food, which was not a problem for us. As we looked over the menu, we noticed a woman in the open kitchen area appearing agitated, having a brief conversation with the cook before approaching our table. Without any courtesy, she abruptly informed us that the wait for food was now 30 minutes. Feeling taken aback by her demeanor, my wife and I decided to leave. It seemed like she was annoyed by our willingness to wait for our meals. Although we understand that delays can happen, especially in a busy establishment, it was the way in which the information was relayed to us that made us uncomfortable. The downstairs area was empty, with only one woman and her child present. Perhaps the upstairs was crowded, but the lack of communication was disappointing. Interestingly, the same woman who was downstairs approached me at Waitrose, a nearby store, expressing her surprise at my composure and dissatisfaction with the treatment of customers. It was a strange and unsettling experience, and although the staff seemed busy and stressed, we felt let down by the lack of professionalism. On a positive note, the staff held onto a model plane we had purchased and were courteous when my wife returned for it. We did not want to leave a negative review, but we wanted to share our honest experience at Bean Brew."

This charming café in the heart of Wallingford is a delightful spot to grab a cup of coffee. It stands out from the typical chain establishments and is open on Sunday mornings.

Really enjoyed our Afternoon Tea at the Bean and Brew! Accommodating 15 people with plenty of food, drink, helpful staff and delicious cakes and scones at a fair price! Would recommend highly if, Afternoon Tea is what you’re looking for! Pete

This restaurant is definitely worth the trip. Every time we visit Wallingford, we make sure to seek out this cafe. The food is delicious, the staff is incredibly friendly, but what truly keeps us coming back is the overall atmosphere. We love sitting outside, enjoying the sunny weather every time.

The staff were all super lovely and welcoming and it was a relaxed and chilled environment. Although the tea selection was super small and all tea bags (no loose leaf) and the cake options were limited also (the scones were a little strange) and most the seats you had to brush crumbs off before sitting down.

Had a lovely afternoon tea with a large group of colleagues from work. We were very impressed by how organised Bean Brew were having all our afternoon tea set out for us upon arrival. Sandwiches were fresh and well-made, cakes and scones were plentiful and we had great service with the teas coffees being served quickly. All in all, we had a lovely time. Thank you Bean Brew.

We came to Wallingford looking for a nice afternoon tea with scones and found it in this cute little cafe. When we got there we saw many locals enjoying the tea, which was a good sign for us. The staff was very friendly and we were not disappointed. They offered different scones with clotted cream and a very nice jam. If we had stayed longer in the town we probably would have come again and tried some more of their tasty treats.

This is a lovely place to go for lunch or just a cuppa. The staff are very friendly, the rooms have great character and I particularly love the upstairs rooms where you can sit and chat while having lunch. Good choice of drinks and the food menu is also great for lunches too nice paninis, salads and beans on toast all of which I've tried in the past. The tables are always very clean and there is never anyone trying to hurry you away which is really welcoming. Will be back again soon.
