"Bitburger - Bitte ein Bit - this phrase caught my eye. The Bitburger Wirtshaus is housed in the Casino. Built in 1825, the renovated Casino building has a beautiful, clean façade. The restaurant has a tourist-friendly menu (3 languages - German with translations in English and French). Their 'Specials' menu lists regional/local dishes. Good service provided by staff. As the weather was good for outdoor dining, we had a table on the terrace. With a superb view of the square, we had a nice meal together on our first evening in Trier. I ordered the Lachsschnite (salmon served with rice, broccoli with almonds topped with hollandaise sauce). The Bitburger Fassbrause Zitrone - a refreshing alcohol-free lemon-flavoured drink - was an unexpected surprise. It went well with the salmon dish. Thirsty after a long day of travelling, I shared half a mug of the Bitburger Premium Pils, a hoppy beer. Here, I had the chance to try the "Jager Art" schnitzel as well - the mushroom cream sauce was flavourful, a delicious accompaniment for the schnitzel. The sauce had a generous portion of mushroom pieces - recommended for mushroom lovers. This place serves good German food - has a nice atmosphere and is conveniently located in Kornmarkt square near the St George's fountain."
