"I didn't stay here so can't comment on the rooms. We called for Sunday Roast and it was fantastic. They were busier than expected and therefore short staffed. However, the only waitress/bar tender/front of house was Daisy. She was calm, professional, friendly and efficient. The floated gracefully between tables, kitchen and bar. Later, a second waiter appeared to help her out and of course the chef (owner? was also busy in the kitchen. The menu at lunchtime was purely Sunday Roast. The 4 adults had starters and then I had the ham, my husband had beef and my son and his wife had pork with crispy crackling. The children had very generously portioned spaghetti with meatballs and chicken nuggets (homemade with fries and peas. Each adult meal came with a Yorkshire pudding and side dishes of extra veg Inc creamy leeks, cauli cheese and broccoli . The meats were served with roast potatoes, honey roast carrots and parsnips. And gravy of course. It was all amazing and delicious. No room for desserts unfortunately. Maybe next time we will skip starters. Although.. They too were delicious! We will be back when next in the Yorkshire Dales."

I've been visiting this pub on and off for many years and I'm so pleased it has now reopened and looks in safe hands with Mike and Kerrie at the helm. Good to see it back and looking forward to food again.

Very welcoming and nothing too much trouble. 2 humans and 1 dog and all welcomed. The food was amazing. Good, honest , home-cooked fayre. No relying on the frozen food giants as so many places do. Can't wait to go back again

We’ve visited this village pub for meals before but this was our first overnight stay. Room was well equipped a good size. Staff very friendly helpful. The highlight of the stay was the food. We ate from the a la carte menu which was excellent quality, like you’d get in a good quality restaurant. There was also a pub grub menu available which looked good cost less! This pub is in an excellent location for walking or exploring the northern Dales, we’re happy to recommend it, and we’re looking forward to a return visit.

"We arrived frazzled because we drove around the grounds in the dark not knowing where to go. The signage inside the grounds is no help at all. Allow time for this if you haven't been before. Fortunately we had because we wanted a pre dinner drink in the bar before we ate. Even when we did arrive we weren't sure if we had arrived at the back entrance because we stood for ages with no welcome or acknowledgement. A very disappointing start to our evening. When someone did come they didn't take our coats. We went through to the snug for a drink. They gave us menus and went away. Later came back for our order. We got our drinks and ordered our food. Then very quickly afterwards we were asked to go through to the restaurant. We had only had a couple of sips of our drinks and it was still prior to the time we had actually booked our table for (7.30pm). We felt rushed. The food came and was fabulous. I had the beetroot starter which had beautifully cooked beetroots and some pickles. It also had a grain through it. I couldn't remember what the grain was so asked a member of staff. She didn't know so went away to ask and came back saying it was probably buckwheat....probably! My main was pork belly with parsnip and an apple reduction. The pork could have been cooked a little longer. I think belly needs to be very well cooked until really soft. The top skin was impossible to cut through as it was not crisp, I couldn't eat it. A steak knife would have helped. Having said that it was still a good dish which could have been excellent. We had sides of mashed potato and greens with pickles both superb. The presentation of both dishes was innovative and inviting. Portion size was good too not tiny portions of fiddled with food which I much prefer. The service was not as polished as the food. There was no obvious manager and we had different servers which is never quite as good as one for the entire meal. The servers were scruffy not appropriate for such a lovely building. Overall it was OK but could have been superb with more attention to some details. Service: 2 Location: 3"
