Brasserie Le Bruegel

Arrived in Boulogne on the Sunday and found most restaurants closed, however this one was open and quite busy, food was good plus it had a good selection of beers.

We used to enjoy visiting this Brasserie, but it's no longer worth a visit. No interest in customers and poor service. Left without ordering as nobody was interested!

Always happy to visit this restaurant when we are in Boulogne. Service was still very good with very helpful staff. The food and drinks are delivered quickly and it's nice to sit inside or outside. The "Welshes" as they call them make an enjoyable meal at lunchtime.

€15 for a 3 course lunch and no compromise on quality. Superb. I had stuffed muscles, calamari and chips then pomme de tart. The boyfriend had a terrine, fish of the day and also pomme de tart. All very enjoyable. The dog also had a good time socialising with the other dogs in the restaurant.

On my latest visit to Boulogne I made my usual visit to Le Bruegel a very typically French brasserie. Always a nice place to start the stay with the familiar faces and quick efficient service. Plat du jour was veal or hake. I chose the veal which was very good. Two of my companions had the hake which looked good also, came in a generous portion, and received very positive comments.

We have had lunch here on many occasions, we have eaten inside & out & have never had a bad meal or service. On this occasion we decided to eat outside, it was a very hot day but they have umbrellas & awnings to keep the sun away. We had a simple lunch of a fish starter to share then moules et frites & omelet jambon et frites followed by creme brulee - absolutely delicious - good value & good food, .

This used to be Called the Brussels bar but appears to have changed hands. Called in for a quick evening meal and drinks and was pleasantly surprised. I ordered Heineken lager and was quickly supplied with the cleanest and nicest tasting pint of lager I have had in some time, if I had wanted the range of beers was excellent and I could have tried many delightful beers. The food was good and quickly and politely served, I was impressed. Atmosphere was good with many people seated outside enjoying a beer and a chat. Well worth a visit if you are passing through.

Nice day it was on Saturday pm. This pub / brasserie is well located despite close to the road but nice glass protection around. Not pricy at all, 2 orange juice, 1 Heineken bottle and a belgium lager beer of the day for 7.5 Euros. Only downside is the poor waiter. I think he was overloaded. It took us a good 5 minute to catch him up to open the beer bottle he brought us and when it comes to pay, poor guy had no change and start jumping from table to table to in the end throught on my table 1.5 euros instead of 2.5. I travel a lot and eating out is probably the most important during these trips. Now I know where the French got their reputation (which in most places is not true anymore). If you really want a Fawlty Towers-experience, this is it. This place is more a practical joke than a restaurant. When the waiter (or possibly the owner) was taking my order, he halfway walked away whithout saying a word when guests came in to seat them. I knew I should have walked away but somehow stayed.
