"Maybe my expectation for the vegan night of Bread Street Brasserie was too high, but I was quite disappointed. I seemed to eat very average. I would have been happy if I had found these vegan options on a normal menu, but wanted more of this as we had made a special trip just to try their vegan menu. There were some highlights to eat. Our appetizers were both tasty and well presented, my onion bahji and my partners a grilled bread with Mediterranean vegetables. We also had a banana jump roll dessert with date caramel that was delicious (I will steal the idea and make it myself). However, our two main thing had great mistakes. My partner had a noodle dish from which his comment on the sauce was that it tasted sweet and sour like a cheap glass. I had a sun-dried tomato burger that was fine, but the lawn Slave with which it came was bad, tasting nothing but soy yogurt. I also found it hard to select three dishes that worked together as a meal, so I feel like the menu was not well thought out. The service also lacked something. The waiting staff was very friendly and helpful, but the headkeeper was really uninterested, bordering on the ruin. We came 10 minutes earlier when our table was booked and were released to the bar to wait, with the promise that we will be collected when our table was ready. 30 minutes later he hadn't come to find us, we went back to ask and then sat. Not much, but added to the general sense that Bread Street Brasserie vegan night was not the experience we hoped."

What an amazing menu. There was 5 of us eating and each dish looked better than the next. All the food tasted fabulous with the crumble and ice cream a fave

Came here with friends and despite booking weeks in advance, on arrival we were told there was no record of our reservation. Errors happen, but the restaurant manager could not have been more unwelcome and rude. The food was not worth the trouble, don't waste your time coming here.

my guacamole granatapfel entrée was really nice, but everything else was a disappointment. the brot was stone and edible. my head (a quinoa salad) literally had rotting articocke in it. you could smell it over the table. After we let the waitress know, we were just a curse beer. Thankfully they had a (overpriced) dram from oban whisky.

We were lucky to be around for the special monthly vegan menu and really enjoyed our evening. The food was very nice and exceeded our expectations for a non veg restaurant it was light and fresh, there was a great choice of puddings, and it's always a treat to be able to choose from an exclusively vegan menu. The staff were friendly and helpful, and it was good value for three courses. We'd definitely go again, especially for the pancakes!

My trip to Edinburgh last October coincided with the vegan night, and I'm so glad it did! It's a really fancy setting, and they don't rough it when it's vegan night, they still go for impressive fancy food. The staff were so lovely and attentive, and made some good recommendations on the dishes too. There were three choices for every course, and they were all very tempting. The desserts were the real highlight, in particular a chocolate tart that was just sublime.

went here a wee while ago as part of the edinburgh meet up group, and very happy with the night. the vegan night had a choice of thee starters, three mains and three deserts, they also went to the trouble of listing which beer and wines were vegan and the staff were really good. there were some innovative food and some older staples, but my creamy mushroom samosa was very good, using local produce such as kale added to the menu. a good option if you happen to be in edinburgh when the monthly menu is available.

I've been along to a few of the vegan nights here and have always been very pleased with their menu options. No fobbing off with pasta and tomato sauce or a falafel burger and the vegans should be grateful, but lots of options with flavour and obvious thought gone into to providing something special. Menu is usually available online a few days in advance so you can think about what you want to order before you go. Their current plan is to offer their vegan night menu on the first Monday or the month, starting from July 1st.
