My friend and I had to wait a little for our ferry to Konstanz and then came to “Aika”. Friendly service, beautiful ambience (inside and outside by the lake and very unusual food. Only recommended :

An exceptional place, its furnishings, a mixture of rustic and leather with modern, angular shapes I like very good. Salad and bread with omelet are very appealing and also the cakes are delicious. It's just a pity that you won't be served at the table, but otherwise absolutely recommended!

I didn't sample the coffee, thought I would stick to trying some wines not normally or...easily find in the UK. Aika is the Finnish word for time and here you can definitely spend a cozy time. You can order at the counter. It is asked first to order the dishes (if you want them) and then the drinks in the second step. The system works very well during my visit and possibly saves. Time. For breakfast, for example, the homemade Bircher Müsli is recommended in two different sizes. It tastes very delicious. There are also a number of hot dishes and drinks. Here you will get the best ice cream in Friedrichshafen. The pastry ice cream is made from fresh ingredients that you taste. For example, the pistachio ice cream tastes like correct pistachios and not, as in many places, according to artificial pistachio aroma. The balls are large and the price is therefore also justified. My favorites are white chocolate ice cream and vanilla ice cream. The bread is also highly recommended. The whole time is in this case the hut comb with bacon. It is creamy rich and sooo delicious. In the Aika you order and pay in the restaurant at the counter and take your order to the table. It is then deleted by the operators.

This place is all style over substance. Chief complaints are the following: in warm weather, the floor-to-ceiling windows are open, with smokers sitting technically outside, but all their smoke drifting inside (what's the point in even separating the two if we have no choice but...to breathe it in the tables are actually big lumps of rock which you can neither balance a glass/mug/plate on nor get your knees under; the menu and counter are gigantic, which would be OK with table service, but you have to make a decision while queuing (difficult for non-native speakers trying to read an extremely dense, handwritten menu board).
