C & R Izakaya - Carta

My wife and I enjoyed the ambience, the food and generally the service in this restaurant and would have given it four stars, had it not been for the attitude of the older waiter, who might have been the manager/owner. The only time he smiled was when I paid the bill! He could not have been more unhelpful it was almost that he was doing you a favour by serving you!

Our family had dinner here Tues night, I tried the Natsu nigiri set of 9 different fish £17.50, it was very good! My wife had the eel Unagi Ju £18.80 which came in a bowl with rice and with a terrific sauce. And my daughter tried the grilled scallops Yaki Hotate £13.80 for four pcs, plus 2 Shitake mushroom yakitori £2. We had green tea with the meal. Very pleasant interior, good service, had a great evening. Not very busy.

This is a lovely place. We went for lunch and we realised that it looked very simple but fancy so we feel like we should go back for dinner time it's also an excuse to go back as soon as possible. The food is incredible, even the sushi rice is the best I've ever tried and there's real wasabi! We tried both plates from the normal menu and something from the sushi menu and everything was spot on. I am in love with the agedashi tofu. I can't wait to go back! Ver carta

Although this restaurant has been in the neighbourhood for a few years ,my wife and I had at last decided to try it our for a weekend lunch.From the street,the interior is relatively dim and appears a bit unattractive. We were immediately surprised that the moment we stepped in,the waitress gave us a very warm welcome and the atmosphere was positive. We were happily seated at a nice and comfortable area.We had udon and maki rolls which were very delicious Prices were reasonable..Service was good throughout and we shall return to try other dishes.

We are locals and we love Japanese. We 've walked past this restaurant many times and never gone in because it 's never packed. But I looked up the reviews and they sounded fine, so we thought 'Why not? '. There 's a reason no locals frequent this restaurant. The food is absolutely revolting. The chicken doesn 't taste like chicken. It tasted so dodgy, we didn 't touch the main course. The vegetables were overcooked and the Summer Maki rolls were so chewy, I couldn 't eat them. We complained but the waitress didn 't care less and didn 't deduct a penny. Can honestly say have never eaten worse food in my life!

We don't know of any Japanese restaurant in London that offers a fully Halal food menu other than C&R Izakaya. With an extensive menu, including a large sushi section, there's more than enough variety of quality dishes to have you spoilt for choice. After all, how many places offer large, delicious bowls of Halal ramen at very reasonable prices? Not many! The service at C&R Izakaya was superb as well, with ultra friendly staff who were attentive and prompt. The venue is modern clean and welcoming. A couple of other tables were occupied during our visit so there weren 't any concerns on spacing etc. This was our first meal out in months, hygiene was visible/available and we had no worries on that front. We had sashimi, which although beautifully presented wasn 't the freshest. Eel fried rice, was unagi (eel) served on fried rice of the kind you find in Singapore and Malaysia. Seafood ramen was pretty tasty, though I 'm unsure why sweet corn was added. The owners also run the C+R Cafe in the West End serving Malay food, and this W2 branch was named the same and served similar food. The three of us have eaten at many Japanese restaurants in the Bay Area, Denver, Atlanta, Washington DC. Based on our one visit, this place was good enough that I would come back and try some other dishes. The restaurant was nicely furnished and quiet even though the restaurant is of medium size and was fairly full with patrons. The wait staff was pleasant and prompt. All the food that we had was aesthetically presented and tasted good. The cold tofu starter was nicely prepared and seasoned.. I visited this restaurant based on the very good reviews. The older male waiter with the short hair was so rude! We kindly asked if we could be seated on another table as the restaurant was empty but had us seated besides the staff table and another couple during covid19. He responded you are 2, not 6. We didn 't complain that we wanted a bigger table, just another table to be more socially distanced. Funnily enough there were 2 women seated on a table for 6 so I 'm not sure why he let them sit on a table for 6 but wouldn 't allow this same treatment for us.
