I'm actually sitting in this fine bar/restaurant after a very enjoyable breakfast. This place was the former entrance to a stylish theatre that sadly changed into a cinema many years ago. But here the grand art nouveau decor survives and continues to delight today's visitor....Around me are a range of clients from shoppers with baskets of produce from the adjacent market to students chatting over a coffee. The brewery, Café de la Paix in La Rochelle, faces Place de Verdun. This mythical and beautiful place has a beautiful temporal setting that I particularly love. Near the city centre, this is the ideal stage before shopping or after. Personally, I had a morning appointment and went to take a second breakfast before returning to work.
