Saint Paul - Carta

Stayed for perfect evening. Our night at Saint Paul was an incredible example of a romantic night out in Nice. Select menu choices. Nice staff, amazing food and a laid back atmosphere. Can recommend the ravioli, the tartare and the strawberry soup with Lambrusco.

I went there with my friends who often visit Nice and know the places in town. The food was very good and fresh. The portions were rather big. We drank beer, it was good. The service fast and friendly although there was no vacant tables. The overall impression was very good. Recommend.

What a delightful restaurant. My husband and I went there for lunch and were impressed by the service provided by Jeremy the owner who talked us through the menu and offered suggestions on what to choose ....... Looking for a place off the beaten path? Want to avoid a mediocre tourist trap restaurant? Saint Paul is the perfect place. We arrived for a late dinner after 10 pm and the owner made an exception to serve us. He recommended a great bottle of wine. Explained each dish to us. My family and I couldn't have asked for better service and food. Our server even recommended a list of restaurants where we should go. You won't regret a meal here.

We were brought here by our driver who had heard good things about this restaurant. It is a lovely spot to sit and have lunch. Unfortunately, we had mussels and a special fish of the day. The mussels smelled terrible, so bad that my wife sitting across from me had to cover them to avoid the smell. The fish was overcooked and very dry. Weeks later, we still talk about the horrible smelling mussels. I would not return here if in Nice again. We did have a nice bottle of Rose and the salad was decent.

We decided to eat here having been at a nearby restaurant on a previous evening - we could see locals enjoying it and the menu looked great with an Italian influence.The service was exceptional and really made it an evening to remember. The owner took the time to make recommendations, offered to tweak dishes to our liking and looked after us throughout. At the end of the evening he even asked how we were getting back to our hotel and told us to call him if we had any problems (my wife is several months pregnant).Can't fault the food at all - their cured meats and cheeses are particularly good. I had fried chicken and roasted potatoes and my husband had the Beef Loc Lac. I had a very large chicken breat, fried nice and golden crisp and juicy on the inside. It was served with a side dish of a sauce similar to buffalo sauce but no heat. The potatoes were nicely seasoned. My husband would rate this a 5; he loved his dish. He wanted to go back the following night and order the same dish. We were told that it's marinated and cooked and then marinated and cooked again, served with rice. The wait staff were very pleasant; it was a slow night, rainy and the staff were chatting with us. We welcomed their dialogue so we had a nice visit with them. After having the worst meal I've ever had in Nice at this restaurant I actually went back the next night just to check that it was the same place as all the good reviews on here. Unfortunately it was. The waiter was more concerned about greeting his friends and serving a table of young girls than paying us any attention. He didn't even bother giving us the blackboard with the specials written on it so we had to ask for it. I ordered a glass of rose' and was brought a glass of red, I clarified my request and was brought a glass of white. At this point I just accepted what I was given. This is an unusual review for me because it starts before I even ate a meal there. I was in Nice on Bastille Day with my husband and a friend.fleeing in panic from the promenade des Angliais, we ended up in Place Garibaldi outside a closed restaurant. The owner was outside smoking a cigarette and told us we should be indoors...when we told him where our hotel was, he said we couldn't go there and offered us shelter in the restaurant. We stayed there til the all clear - we were offered food and water if we needed it...when we could finally leave, he asked us to please call his cell phone to let him know we were ok....a very scary night turned into a remarkable experience with wonderful people...
