"you do not enter this place only to drink a coffee or to have lunch, but to immerse yourself, even for a few minutes, in the history of trieste and the xx century. opened in 1914, perhaps the most beautiful among the many historical premises of the city, despite several peripecies have been perfectly preserved the aesthetics and atmosphere of the ancient Viennese coffees, to which it is clearly inspired, and it is still a place where the trieste like to stop to rest, read the newspaper or study. I and my family sat down for a coffee (excellent) – I recommend Viennese coffee with cream and cinnamon – and we toured the beautiful library. prices are higher than average, but without exaggeration and, for once, it is worth it."

Beautiful, very beautiful. seems to go back 50' and more. service instead a bit cold and detached, it deserves cmq a jump even if in a position little beat of trieste. I suggest jumping if you are crossing the area

Beautiful interior. The coffee and tea are excellent. They have a wide range of loose leaf tea. They also have lots of cocktails. The quality of these depend on whose making them Cakes are nice. Sandwiches are awful avoid. But try some cakes. Most are great

Great atmosphere .Of the four oldest cafes in Trieste this was the best . It was a pleasant surprise to have several gluten free options . The Bone marrow and the tripe dishes were exceptional. The gluten free chocolate cake was disappointing . The service was very good and the waiter spoke fluently in English .

from 1914, the meeting point of intellectuals and artists, has kept its charm unchanged. for me remains the most fascinating of Trieste. Splendid coffee in Viennese secession style, embellished by the wonderful paintings of vito timmel, today also houses a library. still remains a true literary coffee even if -to full merit - it is thrown by us tourists. service in the norm.

Loved this place. It’s been around since 1904. It’s a bookstore, cafe, and bar with baked goods for breakfast and lunch in the afternoon. Do not leave Trieste without visiting this amazing cafe. Also appreciate the capable servers who called me a taxi when there seemed to be no taxis to be found. They really went out of their way and I so appreciate it. This is one of my favorite coffee places in all of Italy and I’ll be back. The espresso was perfection.

I gave one last to the latest reviews before writing my and some criticisms surprised me. I returned to this historic coffee after years of absence for 2 times, of which 1ieri for participation in a presentation of a book. the service is kind and attentive friendly and helpful staff, even what appreciable of these times have checked the green pass. I find a pleasant place for a consummation, but also to stop talking or simply to read, feeling part of a whole varied and multiple. I recommend it.

ancient Trieste coffee still alive and well, where inside the tables and many books, you still breathe the past and history, joyce and Swabian, were habitué of this beautiful place, which remained in intact time. the walls show frescoes and artistically interesting painting. you can take a book and in peace relax sipping a good wine, herbal teas and coffee. excellent sweets served. good services, even if a little slow, but the local is always bald by many people. prices and paid, are acceptable and a vegetarian can eat well in this place. recommended.
