"The restaurant has been open for lunch on Sundays for some time. Despite my various reports it is still listed as closed. Having said that, I went to L'Anciuia for lunch today and was a little surprised that the choice was limited to two set menus. The first course was €25 and included a tasting of starters and a first or second course and a small dessert. There was also a menu for €35 with an extra course. The starters were good, especially the cod crostini with potatoes. The first courses were quite good while the fried anchovies were super. The small taste of homemade apple pie was also very good. What can I say in total: the food is good but I prefer when there is the possibility to choose between several dishes."

"Dined around 7:15 on a chilly rainy Friday and when we had finished the restaurant was very busy. Enjoyed two courses each: tortellini alla lucchese, one with walnut sauce and a two wild board dishes, one with a salad and the other with polenta. Had a half bottle of a local white wine. The meat portions were very generous. The server was efficient and the atmosphere cosy and conducive to talking. We felt welcome and that we had made just the right choice for our first night in Lucca."
