Central Sushi - Menú

This is a TBC review as the launch party was mugged and I didn't taste much of the food (although the one salmon nigiri I managed to grab, knocking off two people as I did so, melted in my mouth). The staff was super super sweet, and so was my plum saké (free) cocktail. Will definitely re-investigate the place when the free sushi madness has gone down.

The restaurant is small and I could imagine it gets very busy, but I went during off-peak hours. The menu is short and reasonably priced, with a variety of items. I sat at the bar and was able to watch my food being prepared. It's important to mention that they do not have a liquor license and have limited tea options. The main choices are fizzy drinks and a few mocktails.

Headed here with Sarah N for a spot of dinner and good catch-up. Staff were really lovely! Very friendly, accommodating and attentive. Pretty basic interior, however it works well. There are a number of stools allowing you to dine along the side of the restaurant and a seating area upstairs with benches and bigger tables. Its a relaxed atmosphere with has lots of little tea-light candles dotted around. We opted for a mixture of small dishes so we could pick and choose, getting a variety of different flavours. I wanted to love Central Sushi so badly but sadly, the sashimi I got was a bit meh hence the 3 stars. Firstly, I 'm impressed with the space it 's nicer inside than I expected and I like how there 's a mezzanine for extra seating. I was just getting takeaway so ordered at the bar. Firstly, the girl said the menu is over there when I asked about take away what she meant by over there was under two customers who were eating so that was a bit awkward. I ordered the smallest portion of sashimi to take away £9). Thankfully it was ready quite quickly and off I went. I was a little surprised when I peeked in the bag as the portion looked really small but it 's because they arranged it into flowers...

I would probably not have noticed this place if my friend hadn't recommend it. We went here for lunch today, and it's an instant favourite! The place doesn't look big at first, but it's larger than you think. There is a bar seating area by the kitchen, and a few tables in the back, as well as an upstairs seating area. The decor is stylish and modern, with that simplistic Japanese vibe, but without being cold or unpleasant. It was really quiet when we were there, but then it was towards the end of the lunch hour and on a Wednesday! I've been wanting to drop into Central Sushi for ages but somehow every time I passed they looked absolutely packed so I decided to put it off for a quieter day. Then I spotted that they do delivery (via JustEat) and that seemed the most obvious solution to my sushi craving problem. I chose the tempura king prawn and teriyaki chicken bento box which also comes with rice, salad and miso soup. I decided to add an order of chicken gyoza too because I'm a glutton and gyoza are my favourite. All of this came to a very reasonable £16.25 including delivery. Central Sushi had been looming large on the NOMination horizon for a while and so on Tuesday we ventured in. On first look the place is tiny but there is extra seating up the stairs. Whilst I'm sure this space is really useful when busy we were the only table not seated on the ground floor which made for a slightly odd, and to be honest a bit disappointing, dining experience. Being away from the hubbub of the main restaurant and sushi bar certainly took something away from our experience. After a long day at a workshop, Gian and I were super hungry and looking for something warm to fill our tummies. We walked passed Central Sushi and was basically like Whaaa? A new Japanese place? WITH RAMEN???? LESGOOO . They 're new but the staff members were great! Didn 't experience any teething issues while there. They were quick, friendly and super accommodating! The place is stylish and quite trendy looking. They celebrate raw materials as its main aesthetic like exposed concrete and plywood walls. Really like it! Spotted this place on Yelp after so many people bookmarked it, just as well as I'm rarely in town and would never have known it existed After some negotiating traffic and road closures I arrive at the door, first impressions is .... Oh no it's just a take out place .... I go in and I'm surprised to see it has ample bar seating and some tables too!
