"Every year we go on holiday to the Peak District and our first meal out is always at The Shalimar. Everything about this restaurant is amazing, they have a real passion for the food they serve, always tasy dishes and generous portions. "From the warm greeting to the final farewell, this restaurant is a true gem. The menu features innovative and contemporary dishes made with seasonal ingredients. I enjoyed a beetroot dish that was simply delightful, complemented by a variety of light flavors that elevated it to a one-star experience. The cod was expertly cooked, served with creamy leeks and sea vegetables, topped with a savory trout roe dressing. Absolutely outstanding. For dessert, we indulged in a gluten-free soufflé paired with rhubarb. Overall, this restaurant showcases a talented chef in a lovely setting."

"On Holiday for a week so called here on a trip to Bakewell. Cafe is well presented , clean and the staff were all friendly and helpful . It took a long time approx 40 mins) for our food to arrive . Luckily we were not in a rush so it didn’t matter to us . It was quite busy in there and the food is obviously cooked fresh . I had the vege bean pot with halloumi cheese which was really tasty and my husband had the club sandwich . Prices are average I imagine sandwiches seemed a bit pricey . Lots of eating places in town Certainly worth a visit though."

"This hotel is not ‘dog friendly’ it is dog tolerant and I believe there is a difference. You cannot have any meals either in the dining room ok but not in the bar or lounge either accompanied by your faithful hound. I did not take kindly to the suggestion to leave my dog in the car having driven for many hours to get there. The hotel and rooms are comfortable but a small fridge would have been a good idea to have fresh milk with tea or in my case to store dog food. Considering the room rate I was surprised at the lack of amenities. There was no dog bowl for water or anything for Fido to sleep on. There are plenty of very good local options at half the price that welcome dogs. You can however book a days fishing direct with the hotel and although it wasn’t mentioned by reception, entrance to Haddon Hall is free if you stay there no dogs there either even in the grounds . No EV car charger but one at the pub next door. The staff were nice but I wouldn’t book again."

"Dropped in for a bite to eat after a busy day exploring Chatsworth House. It was a Saturday around dinner time (with England playing in the rugby world cup semi final) so we were sceptical about getting a table. The lady who served us was excellent. She pushed a few tables together to accommodate our group of 9. The food took a little while to come out, but was very much worth the wait. The chicken tandoori kebab is incredible, but easily enough for 2! Great spot to visit if you are in Bakewell. Food drinks: Excellent pub grub. Rooms: 4 Service: 5 Location: 4"
