Nice and authentic French restaurant with good food. Particulary the deserts where amazing. Would defenitly go there again!

Visited in July and it was a very rustic french restaurant with great service and lovely food. We had snails, bone marrow and steak tartare, all were great, please try this place.

The menu offered verity of traditional French food. I tried for example snails and rabbit. The dishes were good put the potatoes in almost every dish were boring. Wine was tasty as well as the dessert chocolate charlotte. Service was good and prices reasonable. Ver carta

This bistro was recommended by our host. Location was next door to our airbn appartment. This bistro is very traditional. I enjoyed the really old decor and true parisian service, but unfortunately the food was very medicore. I might give this bistro another apportunity because of the atmosphere and low prices. Maybe a class of wine and a main if you are in the neighbourhood.

We went to Chez Paul on our concierge's recommendation of somewhere classically French and local to our hotel to eat on first night. The evening concierge turned his nose up when we told him where we were going and suggested somewhere more expensive, but we were delighted we ignored him!!We both had the pepper steak, and it was one of the best steaks I've ever had - thick, tender, beautiful sauce, potato dauphinoise was delicious too. We had house wine, it was good. The service was good.Fully recommend.

If you are in the neighborhood of the Bastille and want to try a traditional French bistro this would be a good place to enjoy. It is a good idea to have a reservation as it gets very busy. The service is friendly and the food is good. They still have the old time handwritten menus with all the classic dishes. We had the foie gras and the duck confit and a salad. All were delicious. Also had a carafe of Bordeaux . Sit in the front rooms or outside. Don't let them put you in the back room or the upstairs. Ver carta

I have heard of places like this but never actually experienced it . I may be paranoid but I think they treated me very poorly because I was an American that did not speak French. I had a reservation. I arrived and was moved to the second floor. There wee tables on the first floor that I could see . When I got to the second floor the only people there was an American family with four adults and six children. We asked to be moved. We were moved to a corner away from the main crowd with another American couple. Other issues. We watched our waitress take a half full basket of bread from another table and serve it to us. Chez Paul is a a small bistro that every neighborhood should be mandated to have. One where you cam meet up with friends, have a small family party , enjoy a glass of wine on your way home, or have a dinner when you’ve nothing in the fridge.It’s good classic French cooking, the kind everyone else wishes they could do but only the French seem to with effortless flare. Nothing better than a slice of Pate de Champagne and a pot of Rabbit Rilletes to get us started. We had high expectations of this restaurant, but were just a little bit disappointed.The head waiter seemed rather hostile at first, when we arrived for our dinner reservation about twenty minutes ahead of time, but warmed to us a little when we informed him we wanted to have a cocktail before ordering our food. The choice of dishes is not for the faint-hearted, and if you are a vegetarian I would advise you to stay well clear of this place - even the hardiest of red meat carnivores would be rather taken aback at "pig's snout and trotters, veal brains and bone marrow" delicacies!
