"A beautiful setting in the ancient Roman town of Aqualeia. We sat in their shady garden under the vines. Primarily a seafood restaurant, they also have many other options. I had the best lasagna, slow cooked, creamy and tender. My husband had monkfish tail, cooked to perfection. A crisp wine from the local hills of Friuli complimented both. Service here was friendly and efficient. It was a relaxing, peaceful venue a short drive across the lagoon from bustling Grado but a world away from its overpriced over busy tourist restaurants. A gem don’t miss it!"

"Più frequente del ristorante e del bar, tendendo a pranzo e giorni lavorativi, la valutazione è eccellente. Il servizio è veloce, senza discontinuità anche con camera piena o quasi. Ambiente, classico e confortevole che mette a proprio agio a chiacchierare davanti a un ottimo bicchiere di refosco, o assaporare un piatto tipico. Gnocchi ai diversi ragni e patate in tecja mi è piaciuto particolarmente. Tavoli all'aperto, quasi tutti al chiuso, espandere la disponibilità e non sentire il posto come particolarmente affollato. Per tornare per gli altri piatti di un menu in evoluzione"

"I was rebooked from the Hotel Patriachi to the Aquila Nera. Both hotels are owned by the same family and they close each one for a month during the slower winter months of January and February. The Hotel sits on a small square beside a canal. The grocery store is right across from the Hotel. I came by train and the bus service is infrequent. Upon calling the Hotel to help me get a taxi the manager (son of the owner) said I 'll be there in 10 minutes. He also gave me a ride back to the train station. My light-filled room looked onto the square. Breakfast was in the Hotel dining room. They brought a delicious pizza up to my room the first night. The second night I had the Friuli dinner, and later learned that the scrumptious salami and sausages were made by the father. I was fascinated by the finishing touch for some of the take out pizza orders: they scattered potato chips on top of the pizza before closing the boxes. I 've never seen, or heard of that, and intend to try it sometime!"

"Ottima sorpresa ! Spesso trascurato, perche' un po' impersonale, pur passandoci spesso davanti, si è riscattato con i tavoli messi all'esterno sotto un riparato pergolato, ottimo in estate. La rivelazione è la cucina ottima, di livello, con porzioni abbondanti e cibo fresco grigliata di carne, branzino impanato), impeccabile e gentile il personale. "Pranzo di famiglia domenicale. Abbiamo scelto dal menu alla carta. Vasta scelta per chi adora il pesce, un pò meno per chi non mangia pesce. Cibo di qualità e molto buono, come se hai fornelli ci fosse ancora la nonna a spadellare. Ottimi i crostini di pane caldo con il baccalà mantecato. Sublime il dolce con cioccolato e pistacchio. Ampio dehor estivo, rilassante cenarci nelle giornate estive. Naturalmente esiste anche una buona scelta di vini locali."
