"Cley Hall is a wonderful looking place to eat. The restaurant looks out onto the beautiful garden and the sun streams in. This is the second time eating there fairly recently and again we were the only ones eating. So if you're looking for a busy place, with atmosphere, look elsewhere. If you want the restaurant to yourself for a romantic meal, without paying to rent it all out, this is the place to go! We went for lunch and the starters were superb. I had mushrooms on ciabatta and it was clear that the produce was fresh and quality. My colleague had soup and enjoyed that. The steak was less impressive, although it was cooked to perfection, which I find is unusual in the UK. It was just a little grissly and would have benefited from having that removed. Service was outstanding; attentive, but not overbearing. The lunch time menu was a little restrictive, which would put me off returning, although admittedly there was probably something for everybody on it and it was very reasonably priced for the quality. Around 5 options per course with prices for 1 course, 2 or 3. I'm surprised it's never busier. Perfect place to take clients for business lunches."

I had visited and reviewed this restaurant before. This time I found the food and service greatly improved as has its presentation. Very much more enjoyable although we seemed to be the only diners after 8.00pm.

This was my first time in Cley Hall restaurant. The afternoon tea was well presented and looked good. A lot of cakes! The staff were on hand for extra supplies of tea or coffee and fruit juice for some. They even catered for a vegan. The price was reasonable too. An enjoyable afternoon tea.

I have visited this hotel several times, we used to go to the restaurant for special occasion meals. Sadly our last visit was not as good as it has been in the past. The hotel is under new management and the menu is now simpler and less varied the quality of the food was not so good and the service left a lot to be desired. We will not be returning. This is really depends on your expectations, many people will go and enjoy the experience.

Went to Hotel for Sunday Lunch 13/3/2011 and what a treat. A wedding had been cancelled so the restaurant was unexpectedly open and we were the only people there. The meal was excellent and we had a great time chatting to Reece (sorry not sure if the right spelling). what a great host he was and a guy with a clear vision of improving the place. For where it is it was great food at a great price and I would recommend to anyone who looking for a relaxed and pleasant p,ace. My view is that if you live in or around Spalding get behind this place, you WILL enjoy. Looking forward to our next Sunday Lunch!!

Good food but we were the only ones in the restaurant ,all night ,on the Saturday before Christmas ! Background Music BIZARRE not at all seasonal. Although the only people all night in the lovely dining room we were put on the tiniest table with our shoulders against the wall. Food and wine was good but the so called ESPRESSO COFFEE was awful. Just wanted to go home but kitchen staff were already in front of us with their coats on by 9 oclock .No managers evident or we would have made our views known at the time.would not go back unless business picks up and there is more atmosphere. Definitely did not make us feel at all Christmassy, just the opposite.

Good, but not very good. In fact, almost average. Late Thursday night is probably not the best time to have dinner out in Spalding, however, Cley Hall were more than willing to take a booking at 20:30 h. Food quality was good, but the size of the dishes was almost meager. Starters were Ok, but the salmon fillets were more suited to a kids meal or to a low-appetite menu. Desserts (we had to, we were hungry! were good. Service was acceptable, but we were the only table being served, so we didn't expect anything less. Atmosphere non-existent. Mood lighting consisted of a lamp with a bulb missing. Price rather on the high side for the size of the meal. Adequate for a business dinner, but will no...

Try the Cley Hall for lunch when you are in Spalding. There are a couple of extremely comfortable lounges to relax in, before considering what to choose from the reliable menu. The atmosphere in the delightful garden restaurant is totally tranquil. The mushrooms in puff-pastry starter was delicate, creamy and delicious. Madame put away an inspired steak salad while I thoroughly enjoyed baked salmon with a crust. Now, I rarely comment on quantities, but the portions were truly substantial, good quality vegetables provided and lovely sauces evident. House wines were also all smashing. I first went to the Cley hall in 1979, when my company and I used to entertain the local doctors, so I have a...

"We've been here a couple of times before and it's been great, however our latest visit was not a great experience. Portions were small, presentation wasn't anything special, looked like meals I could of in nocked up myself as a quick tea at home, nothing special at all, certainly didn't look like a restaurant dining experience. Also, never come across a restaurant that stipulates on the menu if you want steak they need 48 hours notice! And even if they do, they should tell people when they book in as we had 2 of our party very disappointed on the night. The whole dining experience was also ruined by a group of loud, drunk locals sitting in the dining area and talking and swearing at the top of their voices so we couldn't even hear ourselves having a conversation. If people have paid for a dining experience no matter how bad that was, they should not have to put up with a table full of loud, swearing locals who were just there for the drink, keep the two things separate! Really dark and dingy in the restaurant, we struggled to read the menu due to how badly lit it was. The waitress started the evening by telling us what wasn't available off the menu, which in itself seemed odd at the beginning of the weekend to of already run out of so much. Needless to say this one bad experience overshadows previous good ones, it looks like the place has gone down hill, we won't be back! Must say though this is by no means a reflection of the staff they were lovely, it's on the owners!"
