"Highly recommend this fantastic restaurant...Travelled from Cornwall. To see my freinds family and decided to come here for dinner. And was so happy we did. Food was excellent, cooked fresh full of flavour. All staff was so welcoming and made our stay. Even the main chef Ram came out and thanked us for eating his lovely food. Will definitely be back 100%!! Big thanks too all the staff. What a incredible team Family you all are. See you again soon. "We all enjoyed loaded fries, burgers and kebabs. Libby our waitress was brilliant!!! 10* Instead of saying that there was no custard, someone run over the shop and got some.... "We booked a table for 4 people (at 1pm) for Thursday 29th December. I have to admit, apart from the fish on the plates, (chips weren’t good) it must have been our worst experience at The Thorn Tree. I don’t know if you have a new owner/manager or staff but none of the “happy staff” that we have been used to we’re working yesterday. There was one young man that from what we could see, was only just managing to cope. He was literally running the bar/orders/seeting and serving single handed. This guy was doing great, to say that he had no help on the outside of the kitchen. The chips were certainly the worst we have ever been served. Lots of tiny pointed chips and quite a few chips were green fleshed. We would usually have stayed for desserts but the whole restaurant was “uncomfortably cold”. We understand that heating and energy prices have increased dramatically but myself and many others, are not prepared to pay good money, to sit and eat/drink in an uncomfortably cold restaurant. I would have certainly left this review on TripAdvisor but I have been told in the past “our TripAdvisor account has been compromised by a former employee”. So I’m not sure that there is much point, apart from sharing my opinions with others. In the past, I have always recommended and highly rated The Thorn Tree but no more"

"I had a wonderful meal here with my family, which included a total of nine people, along with a small child. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly from the moment we arrived until the end of our meal. The food was served quickly, piping hot, and all at once. The portions were generous and satisfying. We also enjoyed a beautifully presented dessert that was a good size. My partner had the squash pudding, which came with plenty of crispy toppings—definitely not a tiny portion! Overall, it was excellent value for money. I was genuinely impressed and will definitely return."

"Me and my partner visited here, we are new to the area and this looked like a nice little spot. We entered and waited around 7 mins before someone acknowledged us there were staff walking in and out the kitchen looking at us) we could see they were busy so we gave it the benefit of the doubt. We were given a table in the corner of the room which we couldn’t move as there were customers basically sat on each others knees it was very small. We got the waitress attention after around 15 mins and she asked us what we wanted and we hadn’t even been given a menu which I found very odd. We wasn’t sure if we ordered at the till or it was table service. We basically just got shown to a table in the corner. The staff were nice and friendly it just seemed chaotic. No one had a role, they were ALL in the kitchen, they were ALL give the food out and taking payment . ALL showing people to the table ect it was just a bit much and I felt stressed watching them in such a tiny place. The food it’s self was nice enough and the venue is lovely and quaint which we loved. We then got up to ask for the bill as we hadn’t seen anyone. Instead of taking our payment one stood round chatting to customers, one was laying a table and taking food and the other was in the kitchen and we waited well over 5 minutes at the till waiting for someone to charge us. Then to be told they don’t take card … it’s was all a bit of a shambles. It would have been nicer to receive that information when we walked in and was shown to the table. Not the best experience but not sure if this was just a bad day for the place."
