"I made a reservation here for a family Sunday lunch without reading any reviews beforehand. After seeing some of the recent feedback, I was a bit apprehensive. A business that doesn't acknowledge reviews, whether positive or negative, is not ideal. Despite this, we decided to give it a try. Two members of our group are gluten-free, and this can often be a challenge. I must say, the food was better than expected and everyone was pleased with their meals. However, they were unable to provide gluten-free Yorkshire pudding and still expected full payment. Even a store-bought option would have been preferable to nothing. It seems like the chef may be lacking motivation or skills in this area. When we inquired about it, we were told that they make everything from scratch and gluten-free Yorkshire puddings were not possible. However, they did offer gluten-free bread, which seemed inconsistent with their previous explanation. The service was a bit sluggish, and we had to go to the bar ourselves for refills on our drinks. Overall, it was not a terrible experience, but with more attention to detail, it could have been much better."

We had a wonderful lunch at this restaurant. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. Our main dishes included feather blade of beef, chicken wellington, and sweet potato curry. We all enjoyed sticky toffee pudding for dessert, which was absolutely delicious.

Perfect lunch in the courtyard, flowers blooming, sea bass the best I have ever had. The whole atmosphere is full of character, eclectic and stunning. I was on crutches and was very comfortable. Couldn’t recommend the Crathorne more highly and the McCoy team have pulled off another triumph with this charming place.

Booked for lunch mid week. Didn't need to as was quiet with only 2 3 other tables occupied. As usual service was excellent fast, efficient, and friendly without being overbearing. Always great food excellent scallops starter, and a great burger for main (if I was being pedantic, perhaps too much salad on the side. Not cheap dining, but well worth it!

A wonderful family dinner in the Pizza Tepee for a large party of 30. From the moment of booking the team at The Crathorne Arms made us feel very welcome. A magical evening, delicious food and excellent service. Lucy and the pizza chefs were exceptional. Staff were very hospitable and made everyone welcome to stay for drinks after dinner. The pizza tepee is a ‘wonderful addition’ to an already excellent Teesside pub.

I do not recommend going for Sunday dinner at this restaurant. They are not able to accommodate dietary restrictions or children. I was very disappointed, especially since this is supposed to be a family-friendly pub. They only offer a limited selection of chicken or beef for Sunday dinner, which was not well-prepared and mostly consisted of fatty meats and cold vegetables. They should update their menu to include more options for vegetarians, vegans, and children, or they will continue to exclude younger customers.

Family of 6 Starters were a mixed bag. Scallops where tiny I mean thumb nail size and for the price was ridiculous a whole three of them. The prawn cocktail was serve red in a scallop shell, and was minute ! Just like the scallops. The terrine was average but was vey course and difficult to palette. Mains. The lamb was under cooked and needed a lot more rendering down. It was also stone cold !! The burger was horrendous, very dry. Fishcakes could have been Great if they weren't over salted!!! Overall very very disappointed for the cost.

It looked fantastic, but the meat was mainly fat, the Yorkshire was okay, then the rest of the plate was all jus/carrot purée/ two tiny potatoes and a tiny pot of brocolli and cauliflower cheese was shared (which was bland). Where are all the proper veggies? The purées mushed tiny portion of red cabbage on the plate just mixed in with the gravy and couldn’t be tasted. One of us had the veggie ‘cauliflour steak’ and it was just a plate of cauliflour with some cut up grapes on top?! Also the children’s Sunday dinner was £10.95. So disappointing. Have 2 stars as the atmosphere is lovely, staff are lovely and place is cosy and inviting but the food is all fur coat and no knickers.

Went to have lunch here on the recommendation of a friend Had also seen the venue on Gone Fishing with Mortimer and Whitehouse and so had high expectations Both my wife and I went for the haddock and chips with mushy peas. Cost at time of meal was £20 each It was the friend who recommended the venue that we went with and did not want to upset him by complaining at the time But Wife and I both agreed afterwards that: The fish was dry and bland The chips were overcooked and greasy The peas were tasteless Upon returning home we recounted the day to our grown son who works in hospitality. He suggested that if the chef did not get our feedback how could he know anything was wrong and therefore im...

"We arrived here for a 2 night stay for a wedding (Fri sat night). PROS: Lynsey the manageress she 100% makes it so fabulous. Lovely, welcoming, looked after us brilliantly. Due to some staff shortages, she was doing what seemed like 10 jobs at once! We ate on one of the nights food was delicious! Great service tasty food. Breakfast was also spot on set us up brilliantly for the day ahead on the Saturday! The Willow room which we stayed in was fab ideal size, lovely cosy too! The whole 2 night stay was extremely reasonably priced the place itself has a great feel about it like a big cosy house! CONS: If you like total darkness, take an eye mask for sleeping as the rooms can get really bright from the early hours. Also, depending on the room, it’s on quite a busy road so can be quite nosy it would be worth having earplugs if you like a quiet surrounding. Due to staffing, the bar doesn’t stay open that late, so be mindful of this, they will however put drinks in your room if you can’t make it back in time for the bar closing. Taxis there are no local taxis, so arranging transport to the wedding we were attending was a nightmare which we didn’t account for! Luckily after 6 different phone calls, we managed to get sorted. The only gripe I had was the confusion over the bill if you decide to charge things to your room, the bills aren’t itemised so it’s difficult to keep track of what has been charged. There was some confusion on checkout over what we should shouldn’t have been charged for, so definitely choose to pay for any extras outright to avoid any confusion or uncertainty before check out. Other than that, it was one of the nicest, most personal stays we’ve had out in a long long time. This was mainly down to the Manageress Lynsey who is fabulous at her job really does make it feel like home makes you feel super welcomed relaxed. Thank you lynsey for really making a stay a one to remember."
