"This is a great resort for families. The hotel is beautiful, if a bit tired in places, with great staff and some nice views. There are lots of activities if you are able-bodied and lovely grounds to walk around (or wheelchair) if you are not. The only thing that lets it down is the food and extortionate prices on drinks. Dinner in The Terrace restaurant on the first night was a complete let-down for us. It has a noisy atmosphere with people wandering through to get to the Italian restaurant and bringing away pizzas. The menu is fairly unappealing, more like pub grub than anything fancier, but the prices don't match pubs and the food doesn't either. A very soggy tomato bruschetta with too much balsamic vinegar drizzled over was priced at £8.95. The sea bass with brown shrimp and a few greens was £21.95 while my fillet steak with fries, a mushroom and a piece of tomato was priced at £32.95. Both meals were lukewarm including my fries, whilst my steak, which was supposed to be cooked medium, was still oozing blood and very chewy with sinew. My own butcher supplies better fillet and I actually cook mine better, letting it rest properly. Our lovely waiter, Johnathan, did take it away for me and brought it back re-done with fresh fries (hot this time) but it did not help the quality of the steak. The peppercorn sauce priced at £2.95 was tasteless. I could give the chef a recipe for a better one! Breakfast was the dreaded buffet, which I hate. The food again was all lukewarm and the so-called scrambled eggs were rubbery. I know it's a huge hotel and buffets would seem to be easier for staff to cope with the amount of people going through, but they are dreadful in my opinion. All the personnel try their best and are very helpful and pleasant but, for me, the food lets this place down. We didn't stay for the second night and we won't be back."

The choice of Indian meals was a great delight! The personal service was top class... going the extra mile! Never tasted such a wonderful Rogan Josh before! Highly recommendable and will revise soon.

We had a lovely experience at Winter Garden for afternoon tea. The setting was beautiful with amazing views. The food was delicious and the staff, especially Paula, were fantastic. They made us feel very welcome.

We had a great time at our gin tasting with Garry! He was so knowledge and made the experience so much fun! We got the chance to try lots of gins, ask questions and so many cool facts. We came away with a lovely gin to take home too This is well worth the money!

It is a great place to stay with family. I believe that will be a tradition. I am amazed by Tiffin Restaurant. Chef Manoj and Restaurant Manager Namik, both, were excellent. Super powerful taste and very upscale presentation and pairings. They know what they do, basically.

Very attentive waiter, Ali, who was happy to explain the menu to us. Food was first class with a new twist on many classic dishes. Samosa brownie and ice cream for dessert was a real treat. After our meal the chef came to speak to guests for feedback and explained some of his cooking techniques that made the dishes so special. I would definitely recommend a visit, you won't be disappointed.

My family of four stayed at the restaurant for 2 nights. The beds were already made for the kids upon our arrival, which was a nice touch. We participated in activities such as rifle shooting and ezy riders, and the instructors were engaging and fun. Despite a shortage of staff, the hotel never let it affect their service. The Bingo beats at night were enjoyable, adding to the overall experience. We would definitely come back again.

The food at Tiffin was exceptional. I'm usually not a fan of spicy food, but I couldn't praise their dishes highly enough. The Prawn Malvani Fries were amazing, and the Onion Bhajis and Lamb Rogan Josh were delicious as well. I also tried the Tandoori Chicken with Lemon Rice, which was excellent. I washed it all down with an 1881 Tiffin Gin, which had unique botanicals like cumin and cardamom - it was different and tasty enough that I ended up buying a bottle. The front of house staff were very helpful, and overall we had a fantastic experience. We will definitely be returning to the Hydro in the future. Thank you!

We have just returned home from a 5 night stay in the family apartment room. The room was located in the main hotel building, it was a little tired with wear tear however the layout suited us really well. Our children had their own bedroom which was separate to the main bedroom/living space. We also had daily housekeeping with fresh towels etc. The only downside no AC it was boiling! We did have a fabulous stay will definitely return. It was worth it just for the daily childcare alone! The evening entertainment both our children (5 2) loved. The staff were all friendly welcoming. We didn’t pre book anything other than the daily childcare, a daily swim slot breakfast each morning. This never...

Stayed two nights for a works conference. Overall the decor of the entire place needs a serious refresh. Carpets are faded, velour chairs are scuffed, walls are streaked and tired. There’s also no air conditioning in the bedrooms and so, even in low twenties temperatures, it was very hard to sleep. Provides fans are really noisy and windows are old and not all open properly. Catering for the conference was average and high on salt. No veggie options and no dairy free. Training rooms are at least air conditioned, but presentation equipment suffered from feedback issues. Organisation was poor. Booked in for two nights, I had my room changed mid-booking and the staff packed up my things and mov...

"We visited to see the Beatrix Potter Exhibition with family who were visiting and spent a lovely hour going around the exhibition, however our nice time was rudely interrupted by the elderly lady working in the cafe with dyed black curly hair. We have one child with serious allergies, so instead of one child feeling left out and risking cross exposure, we packed safe snacks for all the kids going anywhere with allergies is an absolute nightmare, so we always do this. Most places are trained and appreciative of how hard it is to eat out with allergens and happy to make reasonable adjustments for this. All four adults ate from the cafe. When part of our order was delivered, we were told “this isn’t a picnic area, you can’t eat your own food, you wouldn’t take food in to McDonald’s” (whilst looking at the 2 year old eating her snacks) when I responded yes I actually would, we have a child with allergies, she asked if it was serious allergies to which I said yes and she scoffed and left, no apology, nothing. I must add that whether the children would be eating or not, they would still have to sit at the table and take up the same amount of space. Would the children also be prevented from sitting because they didn’t buy from the cafe? Still waiting on my food order twenty minutes later and having already finished my coffee and frustrated at the wait, I asked for a refund as we now felt hurried to leave because of how upset she was at the children eating snacks at the table without purchasing them in their cafe. I got the refund for my missing meal and we left without going to the shop or seeing the other art, it has left a bad taste in my mouth. We spent just shy of £100 in the place and to be spoken to like that was horrible. The elderly employee with dyed black hair really needs some training on customer service and manners. The way she looked at us as we left was awful, we will not be returning. This place is not welcoming of children or those with allergies I dread to think how they would react to someone who is tube fed, probably told to eat outside just avoid."
