"My friend and I visited The Crown today for a roast lunch. We were SO disappointed! We both ordered the roast pork and were looking forward to a few succulent slices carved from the joint and some crisp crackling. However, we were presented with a dry looking pork loin steak with thick fat on the edge. Clearly not carved from a joint of pork! We told our waiter this was not what we were expecting and asked to change it for the roast chicken. He was very defensive, but agreed. When the plates were brought back, we had been given a chicken breast portion each, again clearly not carved from a whole roast chicken. The chicken was dry, the roast potatoes appeared to have been reheated, the carrots tasted like they’d come out of a tin, the Yorkshire pudding was soggy, the cauliflower cheese was mushy, there was one small stuffing ball (probably from a frozen pack), the mashed carrot and swede was tasteless, the red cabbage was acidic and rather slimy and the only green items on the plate were a couple of over-cooked spears of broccoli. We agreed the whole thing reminded us of a bad school dinner! We paid our bill and told the member of staff how disappointed we were. Again, she was very defensive and said that they had only had good feedback ‘from everyone’ (implying it was us who had the problem). No attempt to apologise or offer any kind of discount. Needless to say, we won’t be returning. Such a shame, as the Sunday roasts used to be excellent."

Called for dinner as had previously been whilst in the area visiting family. Will not be visiting again due to the high prices and below average quality of meals. Not a patch on previous visit although this was over a year ago.

The food at this restaurant was delicious, but our dining experience was negatively impacted by the presence of several dogs. One dog was sitting right next to our table, and another was barking for most of the evening. This unsanitary and disruptive behavior is completely unacceptable. It seems that the dog owners are allowing their pets to dictate the atmosphere of the restaurant. Ver carta

Been few times food was excellent , not been there since January and went tonight for a special Father’s Day meal and what a let down … I cannot believe we were eating at the same pub, I wondered if it had been taken over .. the food was expensive and awful quality. We used to love there homemade pies but the one we had tonight was awful … such a let down . Sadly won’t be wasting my money there again.

The most expensive roast in the area does not live up to its price. For 13.95 for chicken and 18.95 for beef, you only get a small stuffing ball, a carrot, a spoonful of Swede, four tiny potatoes, red cabbage that tastes like vinegar, cold and bland cauliflower cheese, watery gravy, and an okay Yorkshire pudding. The service was also terrible, with a waiter who smelled strongly of smoke and had nicotine stains on his fingers. Overall, a meal to avoid.

Returned for a business supper after some time of events taking place elsewhere. It has the benefit of being open on a Monday evening. The food was declared excellent by all except one of the six of us. The service and drinks were dealt with quickly and efficiently and the food arrived without any delay. The bar was pretty full and it looked like another group booking was taking place so people voting with their presence and cheerful atmosphere. A good evening. Ver carta

My partner and I dined at this restaurant on a Monday evening. We made a reservation, but there were plenty of available tables. I was pleased to find several vegetarian options on the menu, but ultimately decided on the Sunday roast vegetarian version. The prices were reasonable, around £17 for a main course. The service was excellent, with polite and cheerful staff. The pub has a charming thatched roof and a spacious car park. I would not hesitate to recommend this pub for a delicious meal.

I only come here once a year when visiting a friend, and I've always enjoyed the food. I ordered a meat pie with vegetables and in the past their meat pies looked and tasted home made and came with a selection of freshly cooked vegetables. This time the pie looked and tasted like it was heated up from frozen and the vegetables consisted of some peas mixed in a mash. Also the staff were less attentive they had forgotten that we hadn't yet got our drinks when they later came to take our food order.

"The Museum Inn, located in Farnham, Nr. Blandford Forum, Dorset, DT11 8DE We booked late on Friday night and only one room was available so it was meant to be! We arrived around 5pm and were greeted by friendly staff, shown to our room The Catch and made a reservation for dinner, luckily they still had spaces for dinner but it is advised to book in advance. Lovely spacious room and bathroom, kettle, teas, coffees and bottled water supplied. I have to say I fell in love with the hand wash and hand cream, I have already purchased some for home, the brand is called Bramley and the scent is Lavender, Geranium and Petitgrain. The bed is probably the most comfortable we have ever slept in that is not our own, soft feather pillows that were just right! Dinner was a three course meal and it was delicious, we took 2 hours to eat but never felt rushed or like we were waiting too long between courses. Starters: Ham hock terrine with sourdough toast and Prawn, potato and crayfish fishcakes. Mains: Burger and Steak Ale pie Desserts: Chocolate Brownie with cherry sorbet. Biscoff donuts with pumpkin pie ice cream Drinks: Poretti lager and Cherry cocktail. Breakfast: Eggs Royale and Smashed avocado, poached egg and bacon, absolutely scrumilicious! Big thanks to Amanda who served us this morning and checked us out. Highly recommend staying and eating here and we will 100% be back again! Safe travels! The Allsebrooks x"
