"Murphy's law says if something can go wrong it will. We spent a wonderful day in Windsor visiting the castle and later tea on a river cruise. All lovely. This however was the fly in the ointment. Situated in a pretty old building opposite the entrance the Castle we always knew this was likely to be a bit of a tourist trap. But the weather was sunny and warm and there was a table outside. All good do far. We ordered a pot of tea for two. The water was cold so we had to ask for a fresh pot. My wife ordered a salmon and avocado salad. She had to search for the avocado amongst a huge bowl of uncut lettuce. No tomatoes or cucumber or anything other than lettuce. So really dull and tasteless. I ordered a club sandwich with chicken and bacon. That was perfectly fine. It came with chips which were stone cold as soon as they hit the table. They were changed at once for fresh hot ones so quite why I was served cold ones is anyone's guess. To cap it off we had to fight off wasps all the time which made for a really unpleasant experience. Such a shame as the location was pretty and simple basic things let this place down. Maybe we were unlucky...."

Good service, cosy venue, yummy scones, nice cup of tea and delicious sandwiches. Right next to Windsor Castle. Highly recommend!

Appalling food here. Fish inedible. Very greasy. When we complained, we were told there was nothing wrong and we should have gone somewhere else. AVOID THIS RESTAURANT

The Proprietor immediately made us feel at home! The dining room is cozy and welcoming. The Proprietor was engaging and welcoming. The Jacket potatoes were awesome, the ham cheese on flatbread was amazing. And, of course, the tea offered a welcome respite. Ver carta

As a group visiting Windsor to sing at nearby St George’s Chapel, Drury House seemed to fit the bill for a hearty meal. This was not the case. Boring pasta with ordinary sauce, scant vegetables and haphazard service leaves the group with an unmemorable taste of Windsor. Poor form.

You’re pounced upon in the street, when you sit down, you’re given a menu. It took the chap an age to take the order. A cup of tea, a smoothie, hot chocolate and a coke. Took ages to have them served. The red tea pot was rusty on the inside. Didn’t like that a service charge is added on without asking. Won’t be returning!

We came here after visiting Windsor Castle. It was cool because you could eat outside and still see part of the castle. We each had pies. We had the Shepard’s pie and the chicken and mushroom pie. Both equally delicious. Also the pork scratching with applesauce. I’m not sure if they were short staffed because the service was a little slow, but the food was delicious and I would recommend this place! Ver carta

The only positive about our experience was that our waitress was pleasant and apologetic at the end. Other than that, it was a fiasco. The primary thing I will remember is our food getting delivered to another table (after a long wait) and then, after the food sat at the other table for a while, their trying to pass it off to us, lukewarm, afterwards. We ended up reordering everything and waiting a long time again. They ended up offering us free beverages and ultimately didn't charge us for one of the dishes we ordered. The food overall was mediocre.

This is now The Cobbles a little wine bar with great decor and cocktails but sadly also a really pretentious and unwelcoming maitre d who doesn 't smile, speaks to you like you are beneath him and rather than just graciously top up a cocktail when we felt the measure was a cm too low (not accounting for the cognac in the glass) chooses to go and get a measure, pour it of water and then wave it in your face. Unbelievable service in stark stark contrast to the wonderful and welcoming Shambles in the Crooked House nearby, and the incredible A la Russe we had just come from (my birthday dinner I had reserved a table at The Cobbles for cocktails after and they even knew it was a birthday). The wo...

"We were visiting Windsor and read the good reviews about this place and were so pleasantly surprised to find such cosy and beautiful place . The food was delicious. Lots of starters to choose from. We had squid and warm salad for starters... The squid...was so delicious and beautifully cooked, and had subtle spicey chilly and onion dressing. I had warm salad and the pork just melted in my mouth . For our mains we had steaks , sirloin and rib eye and my partner said this is the best steak he had ever had in UK . The mushroom sauce I had was so authentic just perfect. The sides of duck fat chips and cauliflower cheese are must try ! I never though that I'd love cauliflower but I'm already a fan after trying WG's special side of cauliflower cheese. Generous portions and such lovely staff ! They made us feel welcomed always with smile on their faces and very knowledgeable and chatty as well. The whole atmosphere in the restaurant was relaxed and it had real good vibe .The play list was such a nice addition to our experience , such good mix of all types of music. We were sat at the table close to the bar, and we've noticed that the whole place is decorated with good taste and attention to detail. This place is a true gem honestly , and I'm not surprised now that they have so many stars reviews ! We will definitely come back when visiting Windsor again ! My sincere compliments to the chefs as well ! We've learned that the owner of the restaurant is the Chef at the kitchen so what a delight , when so much attention to details is payed to food ! You created a food momento that we will not forget ."
