Duke Of York - Carta

Super country pub, great menu and dog friendly. Staff nice and helpful. We visited twice on our holiday and had good food on both occaisons.

We went here for an evening meal and what a lovely cooked steak we enjoyed,would definitely return if ever in area thoroughly enjoyed our well cooked meals

We were lucky enough to find the Duke on a drive through Devon and returned the following night with the family and had an excellent meal in very nice surroundings . Ver carta

Phenomenal 'Duke of Pork ' belly pork with stuffing and black pudding on mash with lots of lovely gravy and a rarely found steak and kidney pudding make a superb Friday night meal. We had a very enjoyable evening in this quirky but very traditional pub.

I used to be a local here about fourteen years ago and loved this place then .. came back at the weekend to see if it had changed and to my delight it has not changed one bit Had a fantastic lunch and enjoyed every minute of being back in this gorgeous proper pub Massive thumbs up from me yet again

We were able to get a table for four at fairly short notice on a Friday night for four of us. The pork belly and rib came as a huge portion tasty! Crab platter was good, kids' fish meals were slightly disappointingly basic (but my daughter was happy enough with it). Very much a locals' pub, apparently sometimes including Michael Morpurgo, but not unfriendly at all. Ver carta

Our first visit to this idyllic country pub. Had been recommended by a colleague of my wife some time ago. In the middle of the tiny village of Iddesleigh, we were warmly welcomed as we entered the bar. A beautiful day, and the publican recommended to beer garden out back. We took his advice and settled in for a lovely lunch. Veg lasagne for the lady and chilli nachos for me, followed by a shard bread and butter pudding. Range of ales rotate and pulled from the barrels lined up behind the bar. Tried one and then had a couple of pints of Sam's Poundhouse. Potent stuff, and made just a few miles from the pub in Winkleigh. So quiet in the garden, just the sounds of nature around. Will be back....

We went here for a meal on a Saturday evening we were expecting good things from the reviews etc But we ordered a steak and a special of Camembert! The steak was tasteless stringy tuf and inedible the chips were just frozen chips not even cooked to be crispy so soggy chips tasteless steak The Camembert was very ripe before they cooked it so was good but it came with 4 slices of a French stick and half a tomato some lettuce and two slices of cucumber!! That was a main course! Oh and a small pot of dip We then had pudding All supposed to be home made the amount of time we had to wait you would have thought they were making them we wish we hadn’t bothered the mars bar cheesecake was tasteless a...

For once in my life I really regret ordering fish and chips. That sounds like a bad start for this review but it is not. the fish and chips there are just to die for, wonderful fish cooked in a lovely batter and huge, there are two sizes to pick and I picked the large and was defeated. The reason I think infact I know I made a mistake was I wanted to order the Steak and Kidney suet pudding but was put off by the 30 minute waiting time. BIG MISTAKE , the table behind us ordered for the full table and what a superb pudding it was. I asked the guests how good it was and they said superb as evidenced by their clear plates. I love this pub and its one of our first choices when we visit the area.... Ver carta
