"We had reserved for our wedding anniversary dinner for 7.30pm on a Sunday evening. On arrival, the table we were offered was not acceptable and we were reluctantly given a quieter, more suitable one. Service was initially prompt, knowledgeable and cheerful. The house wines by the glass were good value. Our starters, a cheese souffle and steak tartare, were excellent. My wife chose the beef bourguignon which was OK but my belly pork Cassoulet was disappointing. It was too dry, the sausage was tough and clearly not a typical Toulouse saucisson and there was a surplus of bread crouton. My dessert, an Almond financier, was superb. By about 9pm, the restaurant was nearly empty and our waitress was replaced by a scruffily dressed manager who clearly wanted to close as soon as possible which gave a disappointing feeling to the end our meal. I would recommend this restaurant but advise against a late Sunday reservation and to try to book a table as close to the river as possible!"

"Visited for a weekly ‘date night’ and despite friendly service and a nice atmosphere, the majority of the food left a lot to be desired. Both myself and my partner ordered a pizza for the main course, both of which were surprisingly bland with very little flavour. The dough was also somewhat granular when eating the crusts. My partner’s starter of what was essentially deep fried melted cheese with arrabbiata was extremely poor the arrabbiata was in fact seemingly shop bought sweet chilli sauce, and the cheese balls had zero flavour despite being made of cheese! The one saving grace were the portobello mushrooms with goats cheese this starter was delightful however I cannot help but think this was more down to the raw ingredients being tasty rather than any ingenuity in the preparation. The presentation was also strong, so we can give them that! Overall a poor experience, particularly given this is one of the more expensive restaurants in the area. Safe to say we won’t be returning"

"I entered The New Inn, Salisbury, yesterday seeking retreat from the pouring rain and to meet my son after work. I was served at the bar by Harry. I sat on a lovely leather sofa with my book. Harry brought my drink to the table then proceeded to light the fire for me. I was very grateful for his thoughtfulness; the day was wet cold, and the fire was appreciated. My son and I spent a lovely two hours chatting and enjoying the atmosphere and warmth of this charming old pub with its beamed ceilings and large fireplace. I'd like to especially thank Harry who was welcoming, friendly and professional and helped to make my afternoon very enjoyable. I recommend The New Inn to everybody cosy in the winter, a lovely beer garden overlooking the cathedral Close on sunny days."

"Visiting Salisbury for a party and stayed for an extra night. Staying in a local hotel and looking for a Sunday evening meal. Found this place on the internet and so glad we did. Nice cosy restaurant, lovely, helpful staff and sublime food. Incredibly impressed with our meals, cooked fresh and if we hadn't been full we would have ordered again. So happy to discover there is a Giggling Squid in our home city. Will be regular visitors that's for sure."

"Ate there last night for the first time (we're from Bournemouth and would happily drive all the way back for another meal. Butter chicken made specially for me was delicious, husband's curry was beautiful melt in the mouth and everyone in our party was happy. Staff were lovely, helpful and polite. Best Indian restaurant I've ever been to! :"
