"This is the kind of restaurant I’m gravitating to lately, and away from Michelin establishments. Eels has a young hip chef and Somm that keep the menu simple with less focus on white table cloth and molecularity and more focus on the freshness and flavors of the food. The wine list was interesting and diverse. Like all other restaurants they’re facing problems with keeping older reds in stock but I can’t fault them for that. The whites and champagnes were extensive in range, including the blanc de noir section which I don’t see much at other restaurants. They even had some interesting Canary Island wine that pairs quite well with this food. Compared to David Toutain the night before, which had an undeserved two stars that serves old fish and doesn’t listen to its customers when they say a wine is premoxed, Eels was 100 times better. The treatment and warmth from the staff we received also put them over the top as one of the places I’d definitely return to when I come back to Paris."

Recommended by a friend and found the service and food very good but more expensive than warranted. Small cozy atmosphere was somewhat hampered by a large party of ladies.
