"Harbour alive with tourists so a walk up the hill to a quieter area for a beer. Small roadside terrace..nice cool beer. Had a look at the blackboard to see what type of tapas was available...we were intending to eat nearer the citadel. What a surprise. Ordered tortilla with seafood filling, patatas bravas, sea urchin, fois gras with bellota ham, elvers, duck breast as tapas and gambas as a racion. Local girl married to a catalan, extremely helpful and friendly, explained the dishes to four large Scotsmen and they just kept the food coming in proper tapas style along with the drinks. All of the dishes were superb and as good as any I've had all around spain. The "french tapas" with fois gras was genius and the star. The chefs are genuine masters of good tapas, as well as being spanish. Our hostess happily chatted for 10 minutes about the family and their food whilst we paid the bill. 99euros fed four gannets and included four beers coffee and a pichet of rose'. Only recently opened but deserves to do well..we wish them well and will be back as soon as possible! Give this a try. Peter greig"

Lovely place with outdoor seating, reasonably priced tapas (for this touristy area) and creative drinks.

4.5 stars Stopped in here as we had a hard time finding a decently revised place that served lunch after 2:00.

just happened upon this place while wandering aimlessly one day. service was excellent, tapas dishes (5 between two people) were spot on all washed down with a nice san Miguel. fantastic lunchtime.

We were a group of six and a dog. We were warmly welcomed by the lady owner. We only had drinks but she still brought us some olives to nibble on. Prices were good for St Tropez. Coke €4, glass of champagne €9. They also sell a range of tapas.

We just had an early dinner after the nice day in the city. The owner is very kind and the staff was very helpful as well! We like to test tapas bars but this one was not among the best ones. The food was all fresh but we missed a bit of special taste. Ver carta

A wonderful husband a wife duo who know how to dish out superb service and tapas. We happened to stumble upon this quaint place while looking to get a light lunch. Once we saw El Mas we were immediately greeted by the cheerful wife. We were quite impressed as everything which was recommended was truly excellent, from the tapas (which were on the house) to the sangria. Both wife and husband were very friendly and helpful. The chef, needless to say fantastic. We wish the much success!

"we had the 5 course menu, 1 normal, 1 vegetarian. the vegetarian was good but not up to the standard we experienced in similar establishments and not on the level of the non-vegetarian. waiters also did not mention it. it was just a small part on the bottom of the menu. we felt that's also about the appreciation it got from the chef. in our opinion, if u offer a vegetarian menu, it must be on an equal level as the rest of the menu. it wasn't (seems as if les légumes alone just are not much of an inspiration to the chef which clearly reflected in the courses). it wasn't bad but from a 3 star restaurant I expect fireworks even without meat; especially if the theme is provénce. the normal 5 course menu was good but the overuse of grapefruit started to annoy me after the second time 4 or so slices were used on my dish as it was way too sour, clearly overshadowing the other flavors and the note of sour even persisted through the coursesafter the palette refreshener which also contained some lemon notes came the dessert (kind of lemon tart) which was so sour that we both could not finish it. it was like a punch in the face after such perfectly and tastefully balanced 4 previous courses that explored familiar and unfamiliar flavor profiles and combinations (on a deserved 3 star level in my opinion - even though I missed obvious associations to la provénce). the rest of the desserts (which seemed to make up of 30%+ of the overall food volume; no idea why such an emphasis on sweet/sour for just a 5 course meal) couldn't help and were clearly on a much lower level as the rest of the food which was very disappointing to us. also, to be honest, lemon notes belong more to Italy than to the provence (google oops I dropped the lemon tart). all in all a mixed experience which started strong and gradually worsened. A bite into a lemon or grapefruit would have given me a purer taste of la provence if i wanted to explore the perfect sour note. service was excellent, excited and friendly. wine pairing good."
