"Not so lucky if you're hungry. After waiting almost an hour after our booked lunch slot, the food was ok. When I complained to the waiter after our meal about the delay, apparently it was our fault for not ordering starters as tables with starters are priority. And I was supposed to psychically know the hake was an additional 25 mins. Suggest management invests in better organising staff capacity and bookings, and some staff training. In response to the owner's response. We most certainly were not told in advance that there would be a wait, for other tables or for the hake , and the waiter did indeed say that tables with starters were prioritised. So correct your staff, not me."

This restaurant has recently changed ownership and is now called The Tartan Rooster. The chef and staff remain the same, and the menu is mostly unchanged. It's still great!

The haggis pakora is a must-try if it's on the specials board. As a wheelchair user, I accessed the restaurant through a side entrance and had a variety of seating options at my table. The service was excellent, and the food was fantastic!

We just celebrated our parents' 30th wedding anniversary at Faodail tonight, and the food was absolutely delicious. All 12 of us were very pleased with our meals. From the moment I reached out to Faodail, the staff were friendly and incredibly accommodating. I would highly recommend it. It’s a lovely little place.

What a lovely little spot! There’s a cozy couch area where you can relax and enjoy drinks before your meal. The food was fantastic—I had halloumi fries followed by a steak pie. My partner ordered mixed pakora and then a burger, both of which were delicious. The staff were friendly, helpful, and just the right level of attentive. We will definitely be returning!

I had a terrible experience tonight while celebrating a friend's birthday. I ordered the flat iron steak, which was recommended on the menu to be cooked rare, but it arrived very well done. I sent it back to the kitchen, but it took so long to be replaced that by the time it arrived, everyone at our table had already finished eating. This was incredibly disappointing, especially for such a special occasion. I wouldn't describe this as 'a lucky find' at all.

The food was truly excellent, deserving a perfect 5/5 rating. Unfortunately, the service left much to be desired. I received the wrong main dish and, despite declining ice for my drink, it was still served with ice. Additionally, the initial setup was quite strange. Upon arrival, we were seated in a small waiting area with comfy couches by the bar, which is also where we placed our order. I assumed it was because they were busy, so that was understandable. However, when our food was ready, we were then taken to the table despite several free ones being available. It felt like a tactic to encourage us to order more drinks.

Second time at this hidden gem and all I have to say is that the standards remain extremely high. The beer battered haddock was fantastic, generous portion, quality of the fish the best I have ever seen and the batter was simply perfect. The chips were good. I also had the giant prawns saltee and the tomato sauce was absolutely gorgeous, full of taste. Desserts are equally superb. I tried the mojito cheesecake and it was great. Service is very friendly attentive. The background music is really pleasant, perfect volume sufficiently high to muffle conversations in the room but not too high that it would disturb conversation at the table. Will be coming back.

"After looking forward to Christmas lunch for months and inviting 30+ members of family to what I understood was a well respected establishment I have left with a bad taste in my mouth (and that 's not from the inadequacy of the food on offer). Paying £65 for Christmas Dinner I would have expected a luxury experience but this sadly was not the case. On arrival we were hearded in to a crowding dining hall like farmed cattle. After sitting down at the table I was served a lentil soup that had been left sat in the kitchen since the beatles were in the charts! Cold is an understatement. Shortly after this initial debacle, several members of our party left before even enjoying the overcooked beef that was on offer after queuing for the buffet for 35 minutes. I did however decide to stay and sample the carvery but did find that said beef was tougher than a sudoko puzzle after 18 pints! The turkey was tasty however so must give marks for this. The vegetables were wattery and had a distinct lack of seasoning and the Yorkshire puddings were drier than a Saharan summer. The hall had a star performer from the classic children 's TV Programme The Singing Kettle which was clearly well organised but the decibel levels were astronomical! Screaming at my young son from 3ft away isn 't my idea of a Christmas to remember! There was also an elderly lady who had felt unwell and vomited outside the front door where the smokers were standing. I did see a member of staff notified of this incident so I had assumed that this unfortunate mess would have been swiftly cleared but after several hours I returned to the scene to find the solidified vomit remained. It reminded me of the beef. The wine on sale at the bar was watered down, the draught lager was underwhelming and the staff in the dining hall (no fault of their own and absolutely not a responsibility they should have to burden) were noticeably untrained. Not to mention the lack of direction from any members of management. In 31 years of dining out for Christmas lunch (Covid being the only exception) this was, by some distance, the worst meal experience to date. I now have to explain to my distant family members, who have travelled from as far as Montevideo in Uruguay, that this isn 't the experience I had in mind when I asked them to make the journey. Hopefully any guests unfortunate enough to have booked for next year already are treated to a far better experience. If you plan to make no improvements to the event, I 'd send them to a soup kitchen instead. P.S. here is a photo of the dust on my fingers when I ran my hand along the wall beside my table. The lack of care for what should be such a magical day is upsetting and I will be contacting the health board about the asbestos infused environment I was forced to consume my food in. Merry Christmas"
