"We stumbled across the Flower Cafe and what a find! Two of the four of us are dairy intolerant, and it was such a pleasure to find food that was guaranteed dairy free but not necessarily vegan. Being able to choose dairy free options for any dish we wanted was such a treat, and I was delighted to find that the grill was cleaned down after every meat or dairy item to ensure no cross contamination. A brilliant example that is followed by far too few restaurants and cafes. The Flower Cafe is well worth a visit regardless of any dietary preferences or needs, with a friendly welcome and helpful staff. Sadly we don't live close by, otherwise I'd be a firm regular."

Lovely cafe and very friendly staff. Big pot of tea, tasty bacon butty and panini sorted sorted us right out after a heavy New Years Eve.

We stopped in with only half an hours car parking and had a quick, delicious lunch, including Panini flapjacks and drinks. They were ready very quickly, tasted fantastic and the friendly service was terrific.

I found this cafe on a veggie food app and was keen to find out what Derbyshire Oat Cakes were. I was not disappointed. Really great vegan options, dog friendly and lovely staff. Would definitely recommend if you are in Asbourne. Ver carta

We visited Ashbourne while on holiday in Buxton. This cafe is by far the best we visited while on holiday for a week. Coffee spot on. Butter flapjack superb. The best example of Bakewell tart anywhere (both raspberry and apricot). Home made. Reasonable prices. Good service. After an absolutely dire experience visiting Chatsworth House after 56 years (stripped bare in the house) and ok experiences elsewhere including in Bakewell … this cafe was a gem! Cheered us up on a wet day. Wish it was where we lived we would be regulars!

Lots of veggie and vegan options, and gluten free can be catered for too according to the menu. Pay and display parking outside, which seems to be very busy, however we found the coop carpark always has space and is a 3 minute walk. Lots of choice of coffees, and witnessed staff being happy to fill people's own mugs which is great. I had the veggie oatcakes breakfast a must try for visitors to the area, even if just once for the experience! And husband had the sausage and bacon bap with egg. All hot, and plentiful. Reasonably priced.

"In the beginning, God created many things from Monday to Saturday and on the seventh day God finished his work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had done. Or did he? No. No he didn’t. On the seventh day God created Bennys. This biblical reference does not do justice to just how divine a Bennys is. It is a kebab/pizza/fast food shop steeped in glory and mystery. Some scholars have actually considered Bennys as the final resting place of both the ark of the covenant and the Lance of the Longinus. If Dan Brown has written another book, I have no doubt Bennys would have featured because the food is so good. I have been to Bennys three times a holy trinity of visits. Each time I have opted for a seminal chicken kebab. The chicken has been fresh and plump and proper (a bird sacrificed for the grace of our plates). The spices have oozed with flavour, cleansing my very soul. The pitta has been strong and resolute in its carrying of the other constituent items of perfection. The salad has been clean, cutting through the spice, to reclaim the innocence of my tastebuds for another spiritual bite. The hot sauce has teased my palate (and my perineum) with a fiery wet heat of a culinary miracle. The chips have been a hybrid of soft and crispy, like a kettle chip which has had an illegitimate child with a cloud. And the garlic mayonnaise, oh yes the garlic mayonnaise, embodies the fulcrum of the holy trinity of God. I believe in a church. The church of Bennys. It is wholesome, it is great, it guides me to the green pastures of hope, away from the barren epoch of servitude you get with other late night food venues. Benny was the 13th apostle and he founded his church here in Ashbourne. I once saw a drunk 19 year old get hit by a 2013 Renault Twingo outside of Bennys. Was he hurt? Was he maimed? No, a beam of alabaster white light transcending mind and soul came out of Bennys as it happened. He walked again. It’s not my place to say, but if that accident had happened anywhere else, I don’t think he would have lived. To me, Bennys is more than a kebab shop. Maj and the boys run one hell of an establishment. Just like Derbyshire was home to the Arkwright mills and the birthplace of the industrial revolution, it is home to Bennys my church. While the Arkwright Mills had consequences for the direction of mankind, so too, to a far greater extent, does Bennys. Fun fact: just down the road from Ashbourne is Belper where Timothy Dalton grew up."
