This resturant is very good and you can not beat the view. It is also fun to see the planes take off and land.

Very nice venue with an English menue ... the spiesbraten is well recommended and one of the best I've tasted it's a small airfield too.

IF you want a nice speissbraten (the local speciality) in a simple atmosphere this a a good place to go! Not real fancy, but consistently good food! Ver carta

Very good restaurant, not fancy more of the rural authentic style. Very good meat made over the typical local fireplace. Nice family personal. One of the best Spießbraten in the city.

Super service and friendly people. Yesterday are in emptiness due to the weather and without any problems all weather information and later have a hangar place, a trip to the city as well as the placement of a hotel. See you next time!

As a native of Idar-Oberstein I have been enjoying Speissbraten my whole live, and this is one of the best I've ever had. Not to be missed. You can substitute the traditional horse reddish for a mixed salad, which is a good choice. Two child...More Ver carta

Just got back from Flugplatz. Not only was the food definitely worth it, the view from the back patio on a good day was amazing. The workers were all very friendly and did their best to communicate. The grounds the restaurant is on, is basically a smaller scaled air strip. while we were out there.It was cool watching home made airplane makers out there flying there planes.

Flugplatz was highly recommended by local residents. it is a cozy place with a nice view. I didn't care for the house salad, I think it was a radish salad. I ordered the classic pork but after some confusion, received the beef. It was fun to watch the cook work the indoor grill. My steak was great. The pan roasted potatoes were very good. I only wish I had ordered a nice glass of red wine with my meal. I would definetly go back.

The restaurant located at the small Idar-Oberstein Flugplatz was recommended by the owner of a Bed & Breakfast we stayed at this year while traveling through Europe. We ate at this restaurant on this trip and a prior trip in 2006. We were searching for a place that served the local favorite "spiessbraten". Spiessbraten is beef or pork with a special marinade and grilled over a open beechwood fire. The spiessbraten was grilled in front of us and the atmosphere and the food was great. The restaurant is off the beaten path, and all of the customers were locals, with virtually no one speaking english.
