"Really disappointing visit as we have heard great things about the food. Unfortunately never even got to try it! We were shown to our table and the staff vanished for over 10 minutes. We were convinced at this point it was bar service so had to find someone and check it wasn’t. Not sure if they are understaffed but there were no staff walking around and checking on tables. We ordered our food and waited an hour. Finally gave up and asked a member of staff to find out someone had made an error on the till and the kitchen hadn’t even gotten our order yet. When asked how long it would take they basically had no idea. At this point we gave up and walked out. We saw another customer complain that her food was taking a long time so I know our bad service wasn’t an isolated incident. Would have liked to try the highly recommended food but the whole experience was a disaster from start to finish."

"Loved it!! Over the last few years we’ve tended to stay at Air BnBs. Problem there not many have a pub attached…… So this was a very pleasant step back in time. Communication from the start was clear and timely, I booked direct rather than through a 3rd party provider……it was cheaper….. Anyway upon arrival we were shown to our room, small and compact would be the best way to describe it. But it was exactly what we wanted….. Downstairs for a pint, unfortunately arrived too late for dinner. Had a great chat with the owner who was engaging, even allowed me to buy him a TBF he did offer to return the compliment but I was too tired to take part. Next morning, down to breakfast and partook in the offering of a full English, delicious….. Unfortunately it was early October and the promised views were unavailable due to the local fog……will have to go back and take in the full alleged majesty of it all. Bottom line, if you need somewhere for a holiday, 1 night stop or just a Sunday lunch, this is the place if you’re in the vicinity. BTW good luck with the ongoing renovations……"

"I can honestly say that I have never given any pub or restaurant such a bad review but unfortunately tonight The Brownlow Arms warrants this one. We arrived at 8pm for our pre-booked table for two, completed the checking in form and waited for someone to acknowledge us. We were completely ignored by the girl behind the bar as she was too busy chatting to her friend about someone who had moved to a barn conversion !! Eventually another member of staff asked for our name and drinks order, then showed us to our table and gave us menus. Nobody came to take our order so we had to ask if this could be done, eventually a waitress arrived and we ordered our food. Almost an hour later, we managed to catch the eye of a member of staff and asked when we could expect our starters, he said that he would go and check but would we like another drink whilst we were waiting. We ordered two drinks and waited for him to return with the drinks and information on where our starters were. Another ten minutes went by and still no food, nor the drinks that we had ordered. We decided that we had been patient enough and told a member of staff that we were not prepared to wait any longer and we left. It appeared as though there was no management at all and what staff there were seemed to have no concept of delivering customer service. There was also minimal safety measures in place, including social distancing. We saw three tables going to the bar to ask for their bills as they had been waiting so long for their bill to be calculated. I cannot comment on the food because we didn't get any !! We are really trying to support local businesses but sadly we will not be returning to The Brownlow Arms. We understand that in the current climate things are a bit more challenging but tonights performance was abysmal."

"i have been to the tea room at Kiplin Hall 3 times now, last year 2017 was rubbish because of no supervision of the teenagers they employed and the silly ipad type of ordering, neither of which worked. I have just been for the first time this year and it was a lot better organised, the waiting staff were more 'on the ball ', polite and paper ordering pads, so ok at the moment. the lady at the till was more polite than last year 's very rude lady, the cheese scone and tea were ok. the toilet is ok, but could be cleaner, the outside toilets they have are not good at all, cold and unclean and it 's the beginning of the season so should not be like that. the manager 's of Kiplin Hall needs to get their act together and get some cleaning done and keep it clean, and the 'doggy ' smell in the back hall where the toilets are (inside) is not good and was the same last year, which is why we didn 't go back after our 2 bad visits."

"We have visited the pub a number of times since th re-opening and we have never been disappointed. The food is excellent, the service is lovely and the atmosphere is great. Our Sunday dinners have been absolutely delicious, especially the lamb dish and if we fancy fish and chips at home this is the only place we get them from now! Definitely recommend! Dietary restrictions: The staff are always conscious about allergies and happy to accommodate any requirements."
