"Was very excited to visit the pub after reading the reviews posted on here last night being 7th March although it was early doors came away a little disappointed. The barman/ waiter appeared to be the only person on duty and really dressed for the occasion. He was polite and friendly but stretched we placed our order waited it arrived. One fish dish and one meat dish great emphasis was place on bringing us our jus to accompany our meal. My plate consisted of rubber cold french beans a splodge of equally cold pea puree although the lamb was cooked to perfection as were the very small portion of potatoes, my husband fish equally as good but was accompanied by the same red meat jus as mine and noticed when leaving most of the restaurant had. (it was very similar to bisto) we asked to see the desert menu it eventually arrived but was then left for a considerable amount of time as the conversation at the bar was a little more important needless to say we paid and left so a little uncertain about a return visit. To sum things up the meal was mediocre if not a little petite lacked vegetables and tepid. Really had this down as our nxt fav restaurant in Alton ."

second time in this pub with my parents living in alton. warm and friendly service from the front of the house team to feel very welcome. eating was good and cheap. we will definitely return.

We have used the French Horn Inn for meals on a regular basis and have never been disappointed. The food is good' the staff friendly and helpful and the atmosphere relaxing and convivial. We would recommend this pub anytime.

Great service. Dog friendly with treats as well. The lasagna was really nice. Freshly made. I wish it was a bigger portion. I was sad when I finished it. The fruit for the crumble was a little too sour for me but the crumble does taste freshly made. Quite a selection of ice cream flavours!

We had our Christmas dinner here, and it was incredible! The roast turkey was the best I've ever tasted. There were about 25 of us, and everyone received their meal hot and fresh. The staff was incredibly friendly, and no question was too much for them. We sat in the little hut across from the main pub, which was perfect for our group. They also had a great selection of gins, which was wonderful for the gin lover in me! Honestly, we really enjoyed our time here.

I spent quite a bit of time at the French Horn in January, having stayed there for three or four days. For me, it was ideal. The cozy little room was not luxurious, but it was perfect for my needs, and I appreciated having my own door from the parking lot, which made coming and going very convenient. The breakfast was fantastic, especially the Polish sausage, and the pub food was also well prepared. Additionally, it's a working pub with well-maintained real ales, and the locals were friendly and welcoming when I struck up a conversation. The teamwork here is impressive, and it enables them to offer such great prices. They even gave me a ride to the station when I was short on time.
