"Great restaurant tucked away in a sunny spot at the end of the slopes. The local specialties like käsespatzle and kaiserschmarren are well prepared and served beautifully but they also have daily specials in the fine dining category. Ate here twice and would be happy to come back again."

Wonderful mountain restaurant with great food, service, ambience and views. Don't miss. Just at the end of the descent of Schindler and past is Raus Stuben. So easy to find and behind a beautiful old church overlooking skiers come from the slopes of Albona

Wonderful mountain restaurant with great food, service, ambience and views. Don't miss out. Just at end of the run down from Schindler and past Raus is Stuben. So easy to find and behind a beautiful old church with views of skiers coming down off piste from Albona

Large restaurant that was picked up at the end of the slopes in a sunny place. The local specialties such as cheese patzle and imperial stews are well prepared and well served, but they also have daily specialties in the fine dining category. Eat twice here and like to come back.

"We have been skiing in St Anton maybe ten times in the last twenty years. We always go to the Hospiz Alm in St Cristoph for lunch, it's been a family tradition. We always book. We called in on Monday morning on the way through...to book for Thursday. I waited while a member of staff finished a phone call, although he walked straight past me only to return a couple of minutes later to finish the call. I was offered 12pm or 2pm on Thursday. I opted for 2pm. We duly arrived at 2pm to see signs on the door advising that the restaurant would close at 3pm. A marquee had been erected beside the restaurant, there was frenetic activity. Slightly concerning. I asked about our table, I was told it would be a couple of minutes. We waited, I asked again, same response. Eventually we were ushered into a small ante room that maybe seats 12 people. It was cold (outside temp was -12), nobody else eating, no music, zero atmosphere. We set about ordering, concerned about the time constraint. We also asked to get a table in the restaurant. No room anywhere we were told. My daughter went out to look. There was room to sit at another table. Another member of staff agreed to move us. We got our food around 2.25pm and were rushing as it was clear they were trying to clear the place. We asked for another drink around 2.45pm but were told that was not possible. I was still eating shortly before 3pm when I was asked to pay the bill. Clearly, some high rollers had booked the whole place for the rest of the day. No problem with that. I do have a problem being treated like a nuisance. A very disappointing end for something that has been an institution for us in St Anton. We will hopefully find somewhere else to replace it."

"We were booked here on the Thursday evening of our stay, when the hotel at which we were staying had their staff night off. It wasn't our first choice but as the restaurant we originally sought had no availability, this was next choice. We arrived early to have a drink before the meal. The restaurant is part of the hotel of the same name. The seating area is all inside and extends back a long way so can accommodate a lot of diners. The decor is the usual bare wood but very attractive nevertheless. The drinks came as something of a surprise. Not just the prices but how they are served. I am a big fan of gins and saw a couple I would like to try. One was a German Monkey 47 gin. I ordered but discovered that they *only* sell spirits with tonics, not on their own. Not only that but if you do ask for a drink served neat, you were still expected to pay for the tonic you didn't want! In the event the cost was over 22 Euros for what would be a double, and it really wasn't anything special! I didn't try another. A disappointing start. Our table for the evening was in the glass conservatory attached to the front of the building. It was very comfortable and warm, with an interesting view of the piste bashers at work whilst we ate.We asked for a copy of the wine menu. Leafing through it the one thing that stood out was the eye-watering prices. There was nothing that could be called economically priced. They clearly take their wine cellar seriously. We did eventually find a Puglia Torcicoda Primitivo that was excellent though, at over 44 Euros, not exactly good value for money. I have tasted other similar Puglia wines that were every bit as good but much less expensive, even at restaurant prices. We decided to start with a shared dish of cheese and parma ham, supposedly with capers, though what was delivered was served with gherkins instead; probably more appropriate. Very enjoyable and more than enough for two. Just as well we hadn't ordered one each! For our main course we both ordered Tiroler Gröstl, which is a sort of Austrian version of the French Tartiflette but with beef instead of bacon. It is also served in an individual frying pan. It was excellent and the beef alternative was a nice change. The quantity was mountainous; there was no way we could have finished it all, even if we had not had a starter. For dessert we had an Apple Strudel and a Lava Cake. Both were very tasty. We were offered a complimentary Apple Schnapps to go with a coffee. I declined the coffee. So, a mixed evening overall. The food could not be faulted but at a total of around 150 Euros for the two of us, hardly good value. However, it was the drinks that added a hefty line to the bill; without those it would have come in more reasonably. Were we to return to St Christoph, we probably wouldn't eat here again. If you have a fat wallet you may wish to try it. You will enjoy the experience, until you come to pay."
