"The older woman who runs the place is rude. I don't say that lightly. There are many, many other places to check out besides this one so I'd strongly recommend doing so. My girlfriend and I sat down to have a beer before our 8 pm night's watchman tour. Not only did it take 20 minutes (literally) for us to get two beers but the staff is disrespectful. First, the waitress rolled her eyes when we told her we only wanted a beer and sighed. I mean the sort of eye roll that is meant to be apparent. That is never the way you treat customers. Shortly thereafter an older woman came and grabbed our menus off the table angrily. She then had the nerve to look at my girlfriend and I in the face (we are in our mid thirties mind you) and say "you don't come to a restaurant to drink, you come to eat." Utterly rude. If that's the way you treat customers then I hope the Internet reflects accurately your service and your business suffers. If you want to stand up against rude service then please please go elsewhere."

Perfect, delicious meals (our group had 3 different dishes and they were equally amazing...), friendly staff, cozy environment and super fair and affordable (yes, cheap) price! A must go in Rothenburg ob de tauber!

My boyfriend and I were on the fence about eating due to time restrictions, and once seated decided we only had time for a quick beer. After learning this, the owner (?) angrily swiped the menus and silverware off our table while sighing loudly. What kind of customer service is that? So completely rude and uncalled for. Ver carta

I have been to Rothenberg many times but never overnight so had no idea where to go for dinner. We asked our hotel owner and he suggested this place. It was a typical German place. Small, friendly, great beer and food. Our second night we ate at one of the big cafes in town square and it made me wish we had come back here.

Been coming here for 13 years and just love the good quality freshly cooked food and at a reasonable price. I have to say we have never experienced any problems with the owners or staff, in fact they are most friendly. Although I will say some of the customers are very rude and I feel they must think if they shout loud enough they will be understood.

Gorgeous accommodation located a couple streets from the Markt. I didn't even get in the door and I was greeted immediately and had my luggage taken straight to my room even though I was an hour early for check in. Great single room with a private bathroom. Very clean, spacious and tidy. There's a restaurant in the front house and room service is available. Delicious breakfast included! (Meats, bread, coffee, yoghurt etc.) I have been away from home for over 5 months now, and this place is what I needed. Highly recommend staying here! Beautiful couple. Ver carta

Our hotel receptionist recommended this restaurant to us. We would not have found it, or gone to it otherwise. The street outside is being relaid at present, so there was nothing to attract us up the street, particularly as there are plenty of more 'visible' alternative on the busier streets of the town.A bit strangely we were seated at a large table already occupied by another couple; not a problem, except that the gentleman began to noisily clean his teeth while we still ate....One couldn't order a bottle of wine but the recommended red by the glass was quite agreeable.We ordered veal and pork dishes from the chef special menu and they were both excellent. My wife had ice cream for dessert...

My wife and I have eaten here this month, having recently returned to Europe, and also on numerous occasions when we lived in Germany 2008-2010. This is our hands-down favorite place to dine in Rothenburg. This is the non-touristy place to go for great German food in this town. Small, family-run and friendly - but do not expect more then a few words of English -- although they have a small English menu; ask for it. I usually eat the Bauernhaus Schnitzel with salad, fried potatoes and a fried egg on top of he pork schnitzel. Outstanding schnitzel!
