Very nice beer garden and the historic restaurant is also very inviting!

I'd like to review the food. Unfortunately, after waiting for half an hour, we were ignored. Other people got up and left with us. We won't try again. Hopefully, the owner changes soon. Ver carta

After 20 minutes, no one came to take our drink orders. Four people left the dining room before us without being served. When we left, two more couples followed. The staff was completely overwhelmed. Absolutely not recommended.

Very nice outdoor dining area. The staff was very dedicated and friendly, despite the staffing shortage. Ordered venison bratwurst with delicious fries and house lemonade. Delicious! I highly recommend it. A fun, original menu, Hawaiian toast, Mett hedgehog sausage, jelly, etc. Give it a try!

We stopped by the restaurant during our visit to the LVR Open-Air Museum. The new owners were very friendly and accommodating. We had a drink and a snack. The food was very tasty, with delicious fries, great little fruit tarts, and Rhenish specialties like Mettbrötchen (a kind of sausage roll). Drinks like the homemade lemonade or a fresh beer were a must. We highly recommend a visit; there's plenty to do, even with kids. Ver carta

Today we went to the open-air museum in Kommern with our two girls. We visited the Watteler restaurant. We ordered shashlik, goulash, and Maultauschen (a kind of sausage). The food was absolutely delicious. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive. Since the weather was a bit cloudy, we sat inside the restaurant. It feels like a step back in time. A special atmosphere. The beer garden also looks very inviting. We will definitely be back and are happy to give it 5 stars!

I had a slice of Hawaiian toast, a homemade iced tea with lemon, and an apple strudel with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. I paid around €12 or €13 for everything. Very good value for money, everything was very reasonably priced. The Hawaiian toast, on the other hand, was a bit lacking in flavor; it was a slice of sliced cheese, and everything was only just warmed up so that the cheese melted. Vanilla ice cream had almost no vanilla flavor. The strudel, on the other hand, was very tasty! The iced tea was also good. The service was very attentive, friendly, and fast. I'd happily pay a little more if the food used higher-quality ingredients

Three of us ate lunch outside on a Friday. The service was friendly and accommodating. The food was decent value for money, and in some places, even (too) cheap for my liking. The fries served with the currywurst and the venison bratwurst on bread, which were very tasty, deserve special mention. The beef goulash was disappointing, which was merely a thin goulash soup, served lukewarm. The bread roll served with the goulash was dry and appeared to be frozen. Sugar-free soft drinks (e.g., Coke Zero) were unfortunately missing from the menu. Overall, a nice location that fits the museum, but the quality and appearance of the dishes could be improved.
