"As a self-confessed coffee snob I was a little concerned what I'd do for my two- or three times daily fix when required to go for three days of training at a Biosciences company in Winnersh Triangle. I was put up in a decent Holiday Inn on-site but I'm not a fan of hotel coffee and anyway, their espresso machine wasn't turned on at breakfast time. Fortunately, immediately outside the hotel was Gather Gather where, I was relieved to discover, they know how to make a good coffee. It was as though a small part of Shoreditch had been transplanted into a Berkshire business park, but without the London prices: a double espresso cost £1.70 The decor is airy, clean and contemporary with plenty of wood and steel and no false ceiling, exposing the ventilation ducts; there's plenty of seating, inside and out. I've just read some of the other reviews and have to disagree with many of them; I found the staff helpful and pleasant, taking time to explain the lunch menu to customers in front of me, but best of all, they know how to make a decent espresso, something I didn't expect to find in Winnersh Triangle. And just to emphasise the hipster connection, they use Union beans, hand roasted in East London. I didn't sample any if the food, but it looked as though they cared about that, too. However, I can certainly recommend their coffee"

Reviewing from the Gather Gather at Green Park in Reading. Hot food is usually OK, the jacket potatoes are never hot and the portion sizes for the extras are so small yet charge you £1.15 for the pleasure of a small handful of grated cheese. Staff are unwelcoming and cold faced. Overall Gather Gather could do better!

Cold atmosphere to sit in didn’t feel like any heating on at all but still nicer than adjacent hotel. Nice black coffees and absolutely delicious carrot cake muffins. Bit surprised that breakfast not served after 10 but decent selection of pastries and such like. Very clean loos but tarnished cutlery. Friendly staff strong WiFi

Expect to pay premium prices for small portions of trendy, low-quality food at this restaurant. While there may be a few tasty dishes, the overall selection is limited and overpriced, typical of central London establishments. With little competition in the area, there is no motivation for the restaurant to offer good value to customers.

During a training course, we stopped by this restaurant for lunch, but I wouldn't eagerly return. The food was mediocre and expensive. I tried the steak burrito, which was bland and tough. They offer a variety of cold salads, beans, noodles, and pre-packaged sandwiches. The staff was kind, but because this was one of the few lunch spots in the area, it was crowded with long, slow lines. Ver carta

My wife and I stopped by this restaurant while staying at the Crowne Plaza hotel across the street. Although the prices were a bit steep, we were greeted by a friendly man who identified himself as a manager from the head office on a day experience. He was pleasant and accommodating, and the coffees and food were both enjoyable. Definitely worth a visit if you're in a busy enterprise park.

The salad looks amazing and the different sizes gave you a good choice. You can add meat to it, but generally looks really good. I didnt try the salad as one day I had the hot dog and then chicken toastie the next. both could be hotter but ok. The place has a great vibe and very modern. The staff are good and there is something special about this place. Yes there are opportunities like, just keep it simple and dont over complicate how you do things.

This seems to be a cafe designed by someone who has never seen one. Start by playing hunt the menu, follow this by a stress inducing 10 minutes trying to figure out how the queue works. I went in at 1pm, by which time both the hot meals on offer, jacket spud and chicken burger, had sold out. I got an overpriced child's portion of scampi chips and cold peas. If you a hipster and you're not hungry this is the place for you, otherwise you might want to give it a miss. Ver carta

Really not what I expected but was actually quite good! We were looking for somewhere close and healthy. I started with a bowl of very well priced and tasty Moroccan soup. Wife and I then had a salad, which came in very large portions and was certainly tasty too. Coffee was presented in a glass... which can be off-putting but it was good and well presented. Both had a muffin as dessert which was delicious as well. Decor is industrial chic so not to everybodies taste but the staff were pleasant and I enjoyed it.

11:40am went in early to beat lunchtime rush due to work commitments. 5 members of staff inc manager and head chef having a briefing in front and behind the salad counter as you walk in. They spotted me, I asked if they were open and they said Yes, then went back to their briefing meeting . The manager continued with his brief and left me standing there. I was left waiting, patiently, but when Manager asked if anyone else had anything to add and the head chef said Yes and started his briefing, I felt extremely embarrassed to be so rudely ignored. They put themselves above me, a customer, and in my book that 's not how to run a successful business. Needless to say I walked out and got a sandw...

"After many years, on recommendation of others, went to this restaurant to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Whilst the food was excellent, the service was atrocious and totally ruined what should have a lovely night out on a very special occasion. Booked for and seated...promptly. Orders for aperitifs taken and drinks brought promptly. Order for wine taken, bottle brought and opened. Then it all went downhill. Waited for over minutes for our meal order to be taken and that only happened because I signalled to the girl behind the bar that I was getting unhappy. First course then took about minutes to arrive. However our main course took until to arrive. I have never ever waited minutes for a main course to arrive. It would not have been so bad if the staff had shown any interest or we had been able to grab hold of one to ask what was going on, they just seemed to totally ignore us! As mentioned earlier, the food, when it did arrive, was very good, it would have been even better if the side order of vegetables my wife had ordered had also arrived. We did ask what had happened to them but when we were told they had been overlooked, decided to just make do and share mine. To add insult to injury, while we were waiting we noticed that other couples were eating dishes that were not on the menu we had been given. I later found out that we were supposed to have been given a specials menu but this had also been overlooked. At the end, the manager was very apologetic and gave a cursory discount however this was not the point. It was a special occasion at a not inexpensive restaurant I would have preferred to pay the full price and not had a ruined evening. Needless to say, we will not be returning."

"After reviewing the menu, we decided to go for a 'running buffet' and shared a variety of dishes, reordering every ten minutes or so. I asked everyone to rate each dish on a scale of 1 to 5, and every main dish received a perfect score of 5, except for the Szechuan Prawns, which got a 5.5, and the sizzling spicy chicken, which scored a 6! The rice and noodles were all delicious—fluffy, tasty, and well-seasoned—but we gave them all a rating of 4 simply because the mains were exceptional. The standout dishes were the Char Siew (honey pork), which we ended up ordering three times, and the sizzling hot spicy chicken, which we ordered twice. It had a delightful kick of heat, was tender and moist, and had a wonderful sauce—even though I tried to manage the scores, they rated it a 6! The Szechuan prawns were plump, firm, and cooked to perfection, and they scored a very hard-fought 5.5, with just the right amount of heat. One of the boys was a bit picky, but we requested a serving of Singaporean noodles without vegetables for him without any hassle. This isn’t just average food; it’s really good, and it comes out quickly, looks appealing, and tastes fantastic—reflecting its price. We also tried the 'wine by the glass' options. The white Chilean Sauvignon Blanc paired well with the food, while I enjoyed an Australian Shiraz that complemented the beef, pork, and spicy dishes nicely. The Italian 'Blush' rosé was also a hit. We're already planning to return on Monday with another group of six to explore more of the menu, and I’m genuinely looking forward to it. If you truly appreciate good food, I highly recommend trying Chef Peking!"
