"We had just been to the massive shopping streets around Hohe Straße and we were in need of break from the madness of these streets when we headed to Gilden Haus which is a nice peaceful pub and an oasis of calm,it's a pub I...always visit on any holiday I take to Cologne as they serve some of the best Kölsch beers in this city and the staff are really nice and friendly. This pub is the real deal,etched stained glass windows,superb pub and beer posters and enamels adorning the walls,an all wood interior with great decor and furnishings and low lighting giving the place a cozy look,there's also plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub, as it we were here over the Christmas period the pub was decked out superbly with Christmas decorations ,it really is a cool pub to visit. We were here on a Tuesday afternoon and we were about the first customers of the day so we could really appreciate what a lovely looking pub this is ,a very pleasant member of staff took our order of a couple of Golden Kölsch beers and these were served iced cold and sparkling and we just chilled out and planned out our day ahead in this wonderful city. The beer was absolutely delicious and we ended up staying for one more,before we moved on we had a shot of Flimm which is the green woodruff drink that is found in most every bar and pub in Cologne,it's delicious and at it's not too strong but it is very tasty. Gilden Haus is really easy to locate on Grosse Bundengasse which is just off one of Colognes famous shopping streets namely Hohe Straße. Opening hours are, Monday to till Friday till till A great pub and one I highly recommend you visit if your in the area."

the restaurant was very crowded at our visit, but the staff had to come to us and apologize for the time it took until our food arrived. eating and drinking corresponded to the standard we expect from a brewhouse.

we arrived in the early evening, checked in our hotel, made us fresh and walked. we are just really stumbled over this place, because it is not really located at a tourist destination, but we are really glad that we did. nice atmosphere, delicious food, great, friendly service. would definitely recommend! away from the lively old market located in a side street, this is my favorite place to relax in a wooden. a warm welcome and excellent carol make this pub a great place to stay one or two hours. two large televisions are great to look at sport and eating always looks very good, although I only ate the homemade frescoes that are very delicious.

After we arrived in the early evening in the carnival, we went on to eat something. we were looking for an authentic place for a warming dinner. the irritating man in a west could not have been more welcoming and friendly. a fantastic start into our time with delicious traditional food. had no idea what the English translation was for the desserts, so they were a lucky one - both were very nice! can recommend a visit here unrestricted
