Gletscherrestaurant Sonnalpin Zugspitze

Our food here was potato fries, margarita pizza and hot cocoa. The service here is average due to the large number of patrons at the mountain top.

We ordered pork steak and goulash with glühwein and hot chocolate. I must say all of them were beyond my expectation. Reasonable price for such hearty portion and delicacy.

The food is perfect, with the soup served with a note of enjoyment. Saved that for my book. The tables were limited, but we got a good table before the place filled up. But then people started to leave & others had a place to sit at. so the turn over seemed to be timed perfectly. Ver carta

The food is cafeteria style, the selection is decent. The soups were quite good, the apple strudel with vanilla sauce is fantastic. Large beer selection, deserts, coffee, tea. Prices are better than you would expect from a ski hill. Inside seating is warm and inviting, outside seating has spectacular views.

This self-service restaurant is located next to the souvenir shop at the Glacier, which you can see after getting off the Zugspitze train. The potato salad (Kartoffelsalat) was good and the meat loaf (Leberkaese) was ok. By the time of visit, it was quite crowded inside as many were taking shelter from the snow. The biergarten was closed at that time.

The view here is of course outstanding, and therefore worth the visit, regardless of what you actually eat. However, I was expecting mediocre food and everything else that goes along with such tourist traps, but was very pleasantly surprised. The restaurant is well presented, and our meals were delicious and the staff friendly and attentive. A great place to enjoy lunch. Ver carta

Open all year, this restaurant, located in the basin created by the Zugspitz glacier (almost gone now), offers great choices of local food & drink. It's all self-service and you can enjoy your meal in the sunshine on the hugh terrace. The local favorite "Weisswurst" is available as well as very tasty chicken wings. And a well stocked salad bar rounds out the service too. The staff is always efficient, friendly, and very helpful. Most impressive however, is the view you have from the terrace over the surrounding mountain ranges. After your meal, grab one of the many lawn chairs available free-of-charge and relax in the sun!

As expected the prices are bit steep up there and the food quite mediocre, not bad though.Nice wooden interior. Tables with the view? - no chance, always crowdy, unless you have time to wait for someone to leave and they do not hurry. Wiener schnitzel was nice and from veal as suppose to be and not pork, which served in many places. Apple strudel is weak, probably worst out of many I have tasted in Bavaria. The worst part is a tea - I was too late to realize not to order a tea in Bavaria. Coffee was better, but they drink only beer and it's a top notch. No matter if you are on snowy mountain peak or at the hell's kitchen - do drink only cold beer, you will feel better!

I don't usually do reviews but the service that we received today, mainly me, was terrible. We decided to go to the Zugspitze today while we have stayed for a week in Germany. After waiting for a while, which is ok because it was crowded, we were seated and gave our order to Franzi. She was absolutely terrible. We ordered brats and pretzels, goulash, salad, beer, and water. Everything came except for the salad, which was mine. I happened to catch Franzi as she was clearing a table and asked her about the salad, thinking maybe it was forgotten because it was busy and things like that happen. She snapped at me, 'you're not the only person here, look around, you're not the only one I'm waiting... Ver carta
