Gletscherrestaurant Sonnalpin Zugspitze

Just if you area starving, on the other hand try to feel your needs (avoid starvation) in another place. For two points in this review was because the beverages.

We were undecided whether to have coffee at Panorama 2962 or this restaurant. In the end, we chose this restaurant due to its Bavarian deco and also better view. The coffee was fantastic and the apple strudel was yummy too. It was like an 'Oasis' providing warmth admist the freezing temperature outdoor!

The food is cafeteria style, the selection is decent. The soups were quite good, the apple strudel with vanilla sauce is fantastic. Large beer selection, deserts, coffee, tea. Prices are better than you would expect from a ski hill. Inside seating is warm and inviting, outside seating has spectacular views. Ver carta

This self-service restaurant is located next to the souvenir shop at the Glacier, which you can see after getting off the Zugspitze train. The potato salad (Kartoffelsalat) was good and the meat loaf (Leberkaese) was ok. By the time of visit, it was quite crowded inside as many were taking shelter from the snow. The biergarten was closed at that time.

It's not a fine dining but it's OK place to have a quick bite when you are enjoying Zugspitze experience. Food was not bad and it's not expensive. We were there on a sunny August day and we decided to take a sit inside. It was very warm outside and with a high UV index, sitting outside was rather uncomfortable. Although they have sun umbrellas, they were not in use. Maybe something to think about...

This is a skiing restaurant but if you take a day trip on the cog train to Zugspite then at least you won't go hungry. You will also eat enjoying a fabulous view. Not much really to differentiate this from other piste restaurants. The food is edible, not particularly healthy and overpriced although at least here you won't need new mortgage. The staff are helpful and friendly and I would particularly recommend the apple crepes with custard - a traditional Bavarian dish. Also the meals are huge (for hungry skiers) so try a single course between two first. Ver carta

Open all year, this restaurant, located in the basin created by the Zugspitz glacier (almost gone now), offers great choices of local food & drink. It's all self-service and you can enjoy your meal in the sunshine on the hugh terrace. The local favorite "Weisswurst" is available as well as very tasty chicken wings. And a well stocked salad bar rounds out the service too. The staff is always efficient, friendly, and very helpful. Most impressive however, is the view you have from the terrace over the surrounding mountain ranges. After your meal, grab one of the many lawn chairs available free-of-charge and relax in the sun!

We were staying in Munich, and made a day trip to the Zugspitz , and took the cogwheel train up. This restaurant was right after exiting the station and passing the gift shop. You can either dine inside, or with the nice weather we had, we chose the outside dining. The weather in Munich was 80F, the temperature outside was 32F, yet with the bight sun and a lite flannel jacket it was in no way cold.The serving was cafeteria style, serving Bavarian styled food, among others. The prices were reasonable. This restaurant is just adjacent to the Zugspitze platz railway terminal. We did not go there immediately after disembarking from the train. We went right out because the kids could not wait to play in the snow. After spending about an hour or so out in the open every one suddenly felt they had to eat and so entered this restaurant. The restaurant is self service and and so we walked around the food stall. The friendly persons behind each stall explained what the food was.
