"so many people had told me about the roast duck at gold mine. I have eaten in this against all 7 10 days at midday and at the end of my standard picks for Thai or Spanish foods most of the time so that I decided this time to eat the brat ente in gold mine and check what the fuss was all. Oh, my! this duck was beautiful! the fat melt in the mouth was like a nice piece of pork I never tasted dee fat so, at the same time the skin was crispy and the meat is so tender. my favorite meat is pork, but the grilled pork (also good) did not hold a candle to this roast! I chose the singapur vermicelli nudel to go with my meal. they were exactly what I wanted really thin fine noodles, fried street eating style and just perfect with the fat of this perfect escape. all 3 dishes for 22€. I have to take the family here to try this one. I had luck at 2:30 o'clock not to mutate any waiting queue, but the restaurant was quite full. I have to say, however, that this is in the line it would be worth for this roast. only the duck one side of noodles or rice would be perfect."

Would advice to make booking before arriving. Long queue, full of people, tight spaces. Nevertheless, great service, good food. Would come back again.

I tried the food, which was delicious, beautiful, and juicy. It offers an excellent value compared to Four Seasons. The service was quick and efficient. I will definitely return next time I'm in London. Verdict: a hidden gem!

People often compare Gold Mine and Four Seasons, but it's really a matter of personal preference. Four Seasons is definitely more popular, but Gold Mine is gaining traction! When I first visited Gold Mine in 2012, it was a small shop occupying just one unit. Today, they have expanded and taken over the neighboring space!

The race is on to find the most tasty roast duck in London. Rumor has it the chefs from Four Seasons moved to Goldmine. One of the authentic Chinese Hong Kong restaurants, along Bayswater. It is popular amongst the Chinese community, specializing succulent BBQ juicy meats hanging by the shop window ready for you to be butchered on your plate.

So on one of the coldest days of the year so far, we decided to go to a prosperous restaurant to warm our tummies and wallets. As you may know, Chinese people are very superstitious and place great import on good omens. Although the name of the place is Gold Mine, we did not manage to fill ourselves with the usual riches associated with the name (ie gold, money) but instead managed to gorge ourselves on more savory delights.

This restaurant absolutely deserves my five-star rating—it's hands down one of the best Chinese food experiences I've ever had. The fried duck and the deep-fried king prawns in crushed garlic are a goldmine of flavor. They offer a special chili oil that pairs perfectly with any dish, and it's unlike anything I've ever tasted before. The current rating of 4.3 doesn’t accurately reflect the quality of the food. It’s truly exceptional!

Ordering my favourite dish of three BBQ meat, and rice, there’s the usual choice of a peking roast duck, soy chicken, crispy belly pork and BBQ pork. It’s a simple dish with tons of meat, topped on steamed rice with a sweet sauce poured over. Peking duck beautifully done, fragrant, tender meat with a thin crisp skin. Char siu soaked up the sticky sweet savory flavours. Underneath, a bed of steamed vegetables seem like a standard thing.

Great food and service!. Their duck both Peking and crispy is unsurpassed, and in common with Four Seasons, many visitors have ventured in from Singapore and Malaysia, where these restaurants have a great reputation. Their chilli and salt squid is to die for, the lobster noodle heavenly, and their tofu hot pots simply fantastic. Part of what makes Gold Mine especially enjoyable is the fact that the food available reflects the heritage of many of the staff working there; yes, it is a Chinese restaurant, but in common with the staff, many of the dishes are Malaysian in origin; order the kangkong belacan you'll find this in any Chinese restaurant in Malaysia, but certainly not in London. Tasty!

I can definitely recommend the Gold Mine for some good Chinese food if you are in the neighbourhood. If my endorsement doesn't swing it, one of our noodle soup visits was enjoyed sitting next to Sydney-based cafe owner, TV personality, and cookbook author Bill Granger and his family. It's telling that Bill preferred to eat in a cheap Chinese up the road rather than his newly opened London cafe isn't it? Unripe bananas and avocados have been served on more than one visit at his flaccid attempt to recreate the Sydney cafe scene. Oddly enough, we had planned to bake Bill's coconut bread on the afternoon of that very lunch. It turned out better than the one you could order at his new gaff. Weird...
