"A lovely village pub, outside looks appealing and there is a car park at the back. Some nice outdoor seating but as it was November we went inside. It was very busy with no tables to spare but we had booked one in advance. The...cliental was mainly couples/friends 50+ years all of whom were very friendly and many spoke as we walked through. Staff were very happy to help and welcoming. Menu had sandwiches and main meals with about 6 choices. The waitress was quick to take the order but it then took 45 mins for the food to arrive. The food was hot, freshly made and it was a good portion size. Garlic Chicken was served with potatoes and a side dish of 3 vegetables. It was very tasty. It would have got a 4 stars but the slow service made it 3 stars for us. Despite this we would give them another visit."

"Now that there is a fridge of canned craft beer, this pub has the best selection of craft beer, ipas sours in Castle Donington. The venue often has live music and the food is really good, both in the evening and earlier in the day. There are seats outside on the High Street and a secret garden area round the back. Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5"

"I recently had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant for brunch, and I must say, it was a fantastic experience! The food was exceptional, earning a top-notch score of 5 for its deliciousness and presentation. "four of us went last night to hoggs bistro and it was a fantastic evening. beautiful layout and decorations and a beautiful view of the garden. very friendly and helpful staff. great selection of drinks. eating was divine, a simple menu, but perfectly executed, absolutely delicious. very decent price for what we have for the four of us. starter, mains, dessert, coffee and chocolate to end divine. will be back again, thanks for such a beautiful evening!"

"Nipped in for a quick bite on a Friday evening. We went up to what looked like the restaurant bar and asked if it was possible to get a table but were directed to the main bar to ask about this. The place was packed- getting served at the internal bar would have been a bit of a fight. Had a similar experience on a visit here before because there's not much space around the bar so you tend to get an impenetrable crowd instead of any sort of line. Eventually managed to get the attention of a member of staff and were told the restaurant was fully booked, however we could sit outside and order food at the bar to our outside table. Would have saved us some time if that was communicated through the team and relayed by the first person we asked instead of sending us to queue elsewhere. We did order to an outside table, and the food was excellent. The small pizzas really are quite small. But if you have a couple of sides they're perfect to not overstuff you. If you want to just eat pizza probably get a large. Also they had really interesting topping selections on the pizzas- I had the spiced aubergine, creme fraiche and honey. It was absolutely delicious. The chips were hot and well seasoned, the greek salad also really nice- I did miss the addition of peppers and would possibly remove the pea shoots and sub in the peppers to improve this and keep it more authentic though. Drinks were nice and the atmosphere inside was quite cosy and outside had a nice vibe with the tasteful lightning and wooden furniture. Would definitely return (but probably make a reservation. It's busy for a reason!"
