Nice lunch, nice chilled vibe and friendly staff. Very dog friendly. Would recommend for lunch and would definitely go back.

Lovely pub in Keswick, we both had the steak pie and after a 13 miles walk it was absolutely just what we needed. Lovely “big” pie lashings of gravy. Very good.

I recently dined at this restaurant, where I ordered a drink and a steak meal from the bar. The staff and service were decent, and the food tasted good. The atmosphere was not too crowded, which added to the overall experience. Ver carta

Hadn’t been to this pub for years as it was never the nicest place but it has had a really good makeover and we loved it in there.Proper pub with screens if you like sport but it’s just a great place for a drink.Cannot comment on food as we didn’t eat here but will definitely visit again when in Keswick.

Honestly if in Keswick you NEED to fo to the 'Golden Lion ' to try the Steak ale shortcrust pastry pieThe best steak pie (chunky chips broccoli) I 've had in don 't know how many years, lovely pint aswell to wash it down, Service was great from attentive staff, can 't miss it in middle of main centre, highly recommended...

Great that the pub has been taken over by Green King and money has been invested in updating it. Lovely atmosphere, a great selection of drinks and you can also watch sport. Food was also lovely. Steak and Ale pie is definitely award winning as per the advert! The only negative is that despite only being open less than a year the ladies toilets are already looking grubby and could do with a thorough deep clean. Ver carta

went here due to it being a greene king which is what i use when i am in my home town of Burnley however that's when it stops mixed grill with peppercorn sauce and a pint £27.95 my god it was awful chicken over cooked frozen chips no mushrooms no egg bit of chicken bit of stake 2 luke warm sausage and 2 teaspoons of peppercorn sauce should be ashamed of yourself i know its a tourist town better food in Weatherspoon's and £10 cheaper

We were assured on the phone that the Golden Lion would be able to accommodate 10 of us and luckily they were! Friendly bar staff and waitresses. Good choice of beers, which went down a treat especially for those of our party who had ventured to the top of Skiddaw earlier in the day. We ordered cheese and bacon burgers, veggie burger, and blue cheese burger, scampi, both pies, hunters chicken and gammon and all were absolutely delicious. We highly recommend for a reasonably priced tasty dinner and a friendly atmosphere.

We were meeting friends from Manchester so Keswick is a good place for a catch up. The Golden Lion was just opening when we arrived and Ellie served us and was very cheerful and helpful. We ordered two of the excellent award winning pies , a Mac and cheese and a scampi. All served with freshly cooked chips and tasting marvellous. We followed this with Apple and Bramble pie and custard which was lovely too. Clearly all of us were watching our diet . You can't have too many pies when they are this good. Stu served us with the food and a smile and clearly Trey the chef is doing a very good job providing this food. The pub is bright and well kept service is excellent and food delicious. Very hig...
