Two members of staff stood playing on their phones while the bar is full of empties. Rather rude and lazy attitude, shame.

Lovely atmospheric pub, great food (I had big, hot cod goujons and a lovely fresh, generous beef burger), excellent service. This is what mid-priced pubs should be like. Highly recommended.

Visited the Golden Lion on the 13th of August and I was looked after perfectly. The customer service was amazing especially Margot and Reece. I would highly recommend this place whether you want food or drinks you will be looked after. Ver carta

Needed lunch but didn't want over inflated piccadilly prices. Luckily we found the golden lion a couple of streets down with decent choice of drinks and good quality pub food. Nice proper pub. Warmer upstairs. An old haunt of Oscar Wilde amongst others.

We arrived after the Queen's funeral in London. This pub was jam full of people watching the procession on the loud TV. The beer flew. We finally have room. It was just wonderful that everyone came together with the TV when they sang God save the king. Even the young people.

Great place, amazing decor and really good food! Service was great and the people were very polite. We had fish and chips and it was delicious. The only thing that didn’t stick was the music, it was modern pop/rap but it wasn’t playing loud so it didn’t bother us and we could chat easily and comfortably. We came around 6 PM Ver carta

We stumbled upon this restaurant by chance and decided to dine upstairs. We had a delicious and light lunch that was also good value for money. The service was friendly and we loved the atmosphere, especially the old photos of actors who used to visit this quirky pub. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and the experience of finding this hidden gem.

The food at this restaurant was not good. The burgers were dry and overcooked, the cheese was dried out, and the bun was crunchy. The portion of chips was very small. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. The burger and chips should be easy to get right, so it's unclear how they managed to mess it up so badly. I will definitely not be returning for food here again. On a positive note, the beer was decent. I almost considered leaving without eating.

This is not a busy pub and the food is potentially good. However it took 50minutes to produce a steak ciabatta. To be fair I was warned it was a thirty minute wait despite the fact only about ten other customers were there. Owned by pub chain Greene King this venue needs a real KITA to bring it up to the standard of other venues. It should be coining it given the location but was half empty on a sunny lunchtime because local customers probably know it id a hopeless place for a working lunch. The actual food was a average.
