"I have visited this place several times to use the cafe and walk around the gardens. I have given it 4 stars as I love the concept but really think a few changes could be made that would really make it so much better. The cafe used to have a much more extensive menu, but now it seems to be just salads and sandwiches. With the produce grown in the garden, the menu could be much more extensive and before lockdown, it certainly was. I ordered the cheese ploughmans, which consisted of 4 small pieces of cheese, 2 oatcakes and some olives and a chutney and was priced at £17.99. I felt ripped off to be honest as you could not call it a ploughmans and I felt the price was extortionate for what I received. Moving onto the gardens. These are lovely and well kept, but again overpriced at £9 for an adult and £4.50 for a child. The child’s price was even more inflated considering all of the sand seemed to have been washed away by weather and not been replaced as the area is basically a giant sand pit with next to no sand. I do feel that to keep the locals onboard and not just overprice the facility based on a one time visit from tourists, that if you did a reduced price offer for the garden if you eat in the cafe, this would provide a much better value for money experience. Like I said, I have visited several times, and would use the venue more often if better priced."

Please be aware that if you plan to explore the shop, it is best to arrive early as we left at 4pm and found the shop was already closed. We had to bring our purchases back into the cafe to pay for them.

This restaurant is fantastic - very tranquil, with top-notch food and excellent service. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate us. The dishes were incredibly tasty and there was a wide variety to choose from.

We received excellent service from the very friendly young waiters during our visit for the bubbly afternoon tea. The selection was fantastic and we even got a goody box to take home. I highly recommend paying a visit to this restaurant.

The food was nice but unfortunately they were in a real muddle with the service. The staff were pleasant but we had to wait ages to order puddings and coffees despite asking three or four times and then only half the order arrived so I had to chase them again. It got quite awkward in the end. I appreciate that they may have been short staffed but they didn’t seem to have any system for tracking orders and ensuring that they were completed.

We arrived just before 11, so the waitress asked us to choose a table until the restaurant officially opened. We ordered coffees and two bacon rolls. The coffees arrived quickly, but we waited about 20 minutes for the bacon rolls. By the time they arrived, our coffees had gotten cold. We decided to cancel the bacon rolls and paid for the coffees before leaving. It's a shame because there was nothing wrong with the waitress, who seemed to have been let down by the kitchen. We won't be returning to this restaurant.

Ordered a chicken pesto salad for £15.95. If you expect more than basic lettuce, pale orange salad tomatoes, and cucumber in a salad, you will be disappointed. The chicken was big chunks of cold, dry chicken breast with shop bought pesto on it with a bit of cole slaw. It was an effort to get through it. Really bland and disappointing. Worst salad I have even been served in a restaurant, I'm surprised a chef would think it is acceptable. I wouldn't order it again. Tip for them: potato salad, cous cous, olives, nice cherry tomatoes, decent salad leaves, beetroot, shredded chicken that is chewable would all improve this offering and make it worth the money. Nobody enjoys eating salad the way yo...

5 members of staff behind the bar, absolutely a free for all to who gets processed first, que ignored members of staff in willing to enforce order. You will pay for a premium service and get none in return. Outside seating is a free for all no real way of order to a seat as multiple people might claim and you don't know when you will get serviced. I have been to this venue a lot and they have always struggled with competent staff but not numbers, I believe if they had a member of staff per person they will still be no better. Management should be held accountable. Gardens are nice but works out to be an expensive short walk around a half used garden. I'd would still recommend a visit but be...

Table booked for five adults for lunch today. Restaurant was very quiet when we arrived as it was early. We were given menus and then waited quite a while before our order was taken. After some time a waiter came and asked us to confirm the order. Drinks arrived and there was one missing. The food arrived and it was ok but nothing special. I had quiche and salad. Suffice to say there was enough salad to feed the five of us and one piece of quiche on the top of it. I only managed to eat half of the salad so that was a lot of waste. We then sat for ages waiting for the plates to be cleared so long in fact that I started stacking them myself. At that point a waiter appeared and removed them. We...

"Genuinely couldn't fault the experience. When I heard that the Drouthy had a new menu focusing more on a veggie and vegan base, I knew I had to give it a whirl. The starter of hot Smoked salmon with lemon creme fraiche and oatcakes was simple yet packed full of flavour. I could have easily have had 10 plates of that and been happy to give it 5 stars. My partner had the smoked duck and even though I have given up meat, I was salivating at the look of their dish. They assure me that it was as delicious as it looked. Served with lavender roasted potatoes (which I'm told were amazing and charred salsify. The mains were more than a match for the brilliant starters. If I could give one piece of advice, it would be get the beetroot risotto. Not being a massive fan of beetroot, I wasn't too sure about it. But the incredibly warm waiter (for my son's, I never got his name. I only hope he can forgive me if he reads this! assured me it was tasty. He was not wrong. Beautifully cooked vegan risotto with balsamic beetroot chunks, shiitake mushrooms and rocket, it was simply divine. WHEN I go back, I'll be hard pressed to go for anything else because it was so delicious. It was creamy, packed full of flavour and cooked absolutely perfectly. Just the right amount of bite, nowhere near being mush like you get in a lot of other places (who charge a lot more, by the way . Superb. The highest of compliments to the chef. I was so taken by my dish I forgot to ask how my partner's was until I had eaten all of mine. But their home made vegan tagliatelle had disappeared from the plate so it must have been amazing. I couldn't handle dessert so had a delicious ruby port (delaforce I think it was called , and I would also like to give credit to whoever came up with their wine list. It covered every single base and no-one could ever be disappointed. Finally, if you're ever in Elgin, please make sure this is one of your destinations. You will leave extremely happy."
