"I was travelling by the Great Western Arms, with my son, when our car was crippled by a puncture; we had to wait for the RAC and, subsequently, a tow truck and waited the the Pub car park for some time. Well before the pub officially opened, members of staff invited us inside so that we could keep warm. They provided coffee and orange juice free of charge and allowed us to sit in front of their fire. Once the pub was open we ordered food, but just as the food was ready, the tow truck arrived. The staffed kindly boxed up the food so we could take it with us. We both agreed that the food was lovely and nourishing. Before the tow truck arrived we also managed to order drinks; the selection was excellent. The pub is in an ideal location when travelling across the south midlands. We cannot thank the staff more for their kindness and consideration and happily recommend them, the food and the drinks available. Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 5 Hotel highlights: Quiet"

Excellent food and great service too. My only complaint would be the portion sizes are massive But for some that would be great news.

I highly recommend this pub/restaurant to everyone! We stopped by on a whim while driving past, and we were pleasantly surprised by how lovely it was. The food was amazing, the staff was friendly, and the restaurant itself is beautiful and cozy, filled with charming antiques. We absolutely loved it! Ver carta

We dined here twice during our narrowboat trip this week. The burger we had on Saturday was fantastic, and the steak on Wednesday was excellent. As a Texan, I can confidently say that the burger might be the best I've ever eaten! When I requested a second pot of tea, I received a big one instead of another small cup. The staff can be a bit slow if you're in a hurry, but when the narrowboat arrives, the young waitstaff are very friendly and take just the right amount of time.

My family and I enjoyed a wonderful meal last night. I started with the goat salad, which was fantastic, and followed it with the sirloin steak—every bite was simply delicious! My aunt had the T-bone steak, while my brother opted for a prawn cocktail and smoked salmon starter, followed by the chicken breast in mushroom sauce. Everything was exceptional, and the prices were surprisingly reasonable for such high-quality food. I can't wait to bring my husband back for the T-bone steak! The pub itself has a beautiful traditional atmosphere and an enticing menu.

"We came to visit here after hearing the new owner was starting to make a bit more effort with his business after a year of being there. We were greeted by fag butts all over the floor, along with a load of rubbish and flower beds full of junk and fag butts. Not the greatest welcome, but we continued. The entrance corridor was dark and half lit by fairy lights on the ceiling. No one was really in the pub, apart from a couple of what I assume to be locals sitting at the bar. The bar area was a mess, with bottles everywhere, dirty glasses (not sure where they came from as the pub was empty). We asked to look at a menu and was handed a folded and ripped bit of paper, which was strewn with spelling and grammar mistakes. The guy behind the bar looked totally at a loss surrounded by mess on his own. The coffee machine was surrounded by dirty napkins and sachets of sugar, with a pint of milk sat out on the side (not in the fridge). The floors don’t seem to have been washed since 2015, and don’t even get me started on the windows. What was once a beautiful beer garden is now covered with tents and tables are stacked in the flower beds. There’s no real sign of life outside apart from the mould that seemed to be growing in the ash trays. The pizza oven is filled with fag butts and rubbish, something I’m sure environmental health would have a field day with. I was also suggested to go upstairs to the ‘pool room’ a room with sticky floors, sticky tables and more strewn rubbish. The pool table barely works without a good kick in told. I popped outside of said pool room to find a stair case leading down to the garden covered in glass and yeah you guessed it fag butts. It’s such a shame that this lovely little pub has been treated with such lack of respect, and it is now so far away from its former glory that its hard to believe it will ever regain it. I will not be coming back."
