"Absolutely disappointed beyond belief. Why even bother opening and advertising that they do food? We really should have walked straight back out the door upon entering. But we had read reviews and really wanted to try this place. The staff were disinterested. Pointed to a table where we were to sit for our evening meal. We were given what can only be described as filthy sticky pieces of paper that were supposed to represent a menu. The table was dirty and sticky with drink stains. Nevertheless we proceeded to order 3 main meals. Over an hour later we still had no food and not once did anyone come over to the table to explain why. The place was by no means busy. There were 4 tables with customers! After approximately an hour and 10 minutes we asked if there was a time that we could expect our food to be ready. Bearing in mind our order was for baby back ribs, a steak burger and a chicken skewer. So not overly complicated. We were told that there was only 1 chef working!. And that the manageress would go and check for us. She returned to say that food would be ready in 5 minutes. Approximately 10 minutes later the baby ribs and steak burger arrived. We had to wait a further 5 minutes for the chicken skewer meal. When it did arrive the chicken was cold and absolutely cremated. So much so that the chicken itself had started to disintegrate and a powder of charcoal remains were on the plate. Absolutely disgusting and inedible. Our entire party left all the food and we went to the bar to pay and left. Disgusted, disappointed, disillusioned and would NEVER RETURN"

"I'm sure others have a better experience, but our room was right at the front of the building directly on a busy road. and our overnight stay was ruined by a window that wouldn't properly close. No sleep at all to be had as a result. Generally, someone has obviously spent a good deal of cash updating the rooms in the not too distant past with many luxury touches, but the decor and facilities are now fading. It was also disappointing that no vegan options at all were available for breakfast. Rooms: 2 Service: 3 Location: 2"

"We have supported this restaurant for the many years that it has been an Uckfield. I took my wife there a couple of weeks ago after a busy week to celebrate her achievements. We indeed told the owner that we think it’s one of the best Thai restaurants that we have eaten at. However the meal that we then had can only be described as terrible every single dish without a doubt had been in my opinion cook chilled bought it a wholesale warehouse heated up and served. There was absolutely nothing about the meal that gave one any sense that the cooking have been done on site. It was such a disappointment At the end of the meal the owner asked us if we enjoyed ourselves and we regrettably had to be honest to say that we didn’t and also whether they had a new chef because the quality food went from excellent to frankly unpalatable. The owner said that he thought the current chef which was indeed a new chef was better than the previous chef. Normally when a customer is dissatisfied a gesture is forthcoming but in this case utterly nothing this was the last time we will ever eat at this restaurant Absolutely shocking and I would avoid and tell everyone I know to avoid this restaurant at all costs"

"On Wednesday evening, the restaurant was unexpectedly busy around 7 PM. We ordered a dansak and South Indian chili chicken, accompanied by naan bread, chapati, pilau rice, lemon rice, and onion bhaji. The portion sizes were generous, and the chili chicken was excellent. However, I found the dansak to be lacking; it was a bit too peppery and didn't have the sweet and sour flavor I was hoping for. The rice and breads were quite nice, but the onion bhajis were oversized and greasy, which made them less enjoyable. The drinks were a bit on the expensive side, but overall, the cleanliness and service were good. I'd say it's worth a visit if you're in the area."

"We ordered three roast dinners and a scampi and chips for my 12-year-old nephew, who inexplicably does not like roasts. The scampi was generous and served with beautifully crispy chips and a bit of salad. As for the roast dinners, they were fantastic—well-cooked, generous portions of meat, and perfectly roasted potatoes. There was also a decent selection of vegetables, including al dente cauliflower cheese. One nice touch was that they brought out an extra gravy boat and all the sauces without us even asking. The service was efficient and friendly, yet not intrusive at all. We also indulged in four desserts, which were delightful. Overall, our bill came to £120 for the four of us (including a tip), which felt quite reasonable considering the quality of the food. The pub's quiet atmosphere suited us well, especially since we were on a bit of a deadline. It was clear that Ringles Cross is well-run, and the staff seemed genuinely interested in ensuring we had a great time with good food.
