"This has been an enormously successful restaurant over a number of years and is mentioned in the Michelin guide for the quality of its food. The experience is enhanced by the feeling that you have been invited to a private dinner party and the dining room is very personal to the owners. I liked the modest sense of theatre about the whole evening and the welcome was warm and service very attentive without being over-bearing. The food is very accomplished and the only small criticism I would have is that if you only offer two main courses then it is unwise to wince if a guest wants the meat cooked to their taste and not the chef's. It was done perfectly as requested. We were being treated to this meal so I cannot say how much per head with wine and aperitif you would have to allow but my suggestion is around £70 a head. If you are expecting a complete knock-out meal at this price then I think you may be disappointed. If you want something slightly unique then I think the cost is reasonable for the high standard you get."

A visit to Harry’s is a unique experience. Delicious food, served with love in a cosy and charming setting. No razzmatazz or gimmicks, just excellent, tasty food, prepared with skill and care. A real treat. Recommended.

A grand idea. We may have missed the best of it as there were no other diners. No sign of Harry .... a disappointment. Reasonable food; good ingredients and some interesting sauces. Good wine choices. Overall a disappointment .... fine dining prices though certainly not a fine dining experience.

Ranked #10 in the Sunday Times Best 100 Restaurants of 2015, this establishment is known for its signature dish: Caramel mousse brûlée with wild blackberries. The talented chefs behind this delightful creation are Harry and Caroline Hallam. On average, diners can expect to pay around £82 per person.

We have been dining at Harry's Place every year since 2003, and it has always been a special occasion for us, our friends, and family. We are already looking forward to 2023. We would love to visit more frequently, but it is quite a distance from our home. The food and wine are delicious, and the atmosphere is always inviting.

Harry's Place is a small, intimate dining experience. Run by a married couple, handwritten menus with a choice of two dishes for each course; top quality ingredients and cooking skill grounded in classical French cooking with seasonal British produce. Yes, it's pricey, and the feeling of being in someone's dining room will not be to everyone's taste so go somewhere else, it works for us!

We are only in the area once per annum, but we never miss a visit to see Harry Caroline and enjoy the fabulous fare on offer. The exclusive hand scribed Al a Carte menu offers just 2 starters, 2 mains and 2 desserts, served at one of the 3 tables to up to the 10-12 covers. The menu listing is dictated by the availability of top quality ingredients and everything on the menu is excellent. We now look forward to our next visit.

This is an exquisite place. We felt like we had been invited to dinner in a beautiful Georgian house. There was room for just 3 tables so the menu is very brief with 2 choices for each course. We both made the same choices: a selection of fruits in a light lemon syrup dressing for starter, cod in a wonderful sauce with melt in the mouth potatoes dauphinoise and a side salad for main, and I had a divine chocolate mousse with mascarpone and blackberries for dessert. There is always a fish and a meat course apparently so Harry's Place would not suit a vegetarian. The wine list was extensive and included some very good wines by the glass. The service was friendly and efficient. It was a perfect...

great food and service. I feel guilty of leaving only 4 stars here, as eating and service is always excellent. caroline is always very welcoming and we love the intimacy. I'm sorry, but we have the feeling that they have to play quietly behind ground music to break the silence. we sat next to a very boring couple and inevitably listened to a conversation. it was amusing that they have resurrected their voices when they mentioned their sohn who is at uni in newcastle! I do not quite understand that this increased screaming of the fact that some body sohn or daughter is a genie and that the whole world must be informed. some background music would have been very welcome. back to eat, always su...

This restaurant offers a rare and exquisite dining experience that has never been matched in our years of eating out. Even just looking at the menu is a delight. Our taste buds are already excited for the amazing meal ahead. We have been to this restaurant several times over the years and have always been impressed. The menu is small but offers a perfect balance of choices for gourmet dining. The wine list by the glass is also excellent, ensuring that each course can be perfectly complemented. We started with champagne and the meal only got better from there. The intimate setting adds to the overall experience. We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Grantham, but be sure to b...

"The Stag Inn is a delightful looking pub overlooking the small green in the village of Barkston near Grantham. Internally the pub is clean and tidy with a range of two and four seater tables with New England shades of light blue on the painted table legs in the restaurant area. We didn’t venture into the pub side so can’t vouch for the decor in there. We arrived unannounced just after opening time of 12 and were offered a table with no difficulty. There was a menu of the usual offerings of fish and chips and a range of burgers together with roast salmon, chargrilled pork chop, a leek and cauliflower cheese pot pie, ham egg and chips and a vegetable lasagne amongst others. A specials chalkboard hung on the far wall and the crab and prawn salad with Mediterranean bread sounded so good we both opted for it. That was a mistake as we were to find out. The meals were reasonably quick to arrive and were served up in two large bowls with a dusting of paprika round the edges. What hit me immediately was the large flaccid green lettuce leaf draped over the edge of the bowl, together with a whole half-a-lemon that we each had. A small wedge would be perfect. The bread tasted sweet and was as far from the Mediterranean as it could possibly be apart from the occasional input of sundried tomato. What irked me most though was that the bread was delivered up pre-buttered with what looked like some bright yellow catering spread. A small ramakin of real butter between the two of us would work so much better. When asked if everything was okay I mentioned this and was told that chef would be informed. Having said all that the crab and prawn salad was full of flavour and sat on a nice mixed salad of red peppers, lettuce, red onion and cornichons. A word of advice to the wise….. don’t sit at the table near the restaurant counter as this is where the pub’s phone is located. On at least two occasions the phone was left to ring unanswered by the staff, presumably as they were busy elsewhere (the pub was by no means full) and was right behind my head! The volume of the ringer was high and it would have been a more pleasant experience for us if, firstly, it was answered and, secondly, the volume was turned down. On the plus side the staff were polite and helpful but the food not so great."
