"We were interested to see what our experience would be like based on the mixed reviews and overall, it was a very good Saturday night dinner. We were shown to our table by a lovely member of staff and throughout our entire dining experience the...staff were really attentive and very friendly. As my Husband and I are both really passionate about wine (Have some professional qualifications in it) it was really great to see some rare unusual wines and grapes on the wine list we always get excited when we find something we've not tried before so that really added to the enjoyment. Our food was on the whole, very pleasant. The starter of the crab tart was a particularly well created and executed dish. The reason I gave this place 4 stars and not 5 was due to a couple of minor issues errors. I didn't feel the fat on my duck was rendered enough and it was quite chewy and the hot chocolate mousse was actually frozen at the bottom. Was that an oversight or how it was supposed to be served? I honestly don't know, maybe it was my ignorance as I've not had one before, but it wasn't expected. Three courses each plus 2 small glasses of wine, plus service charge came to just over £200 and this is where I think the issue comes I feel there's better value to be had at other Michelen starred places in Hampshire/ Berkshire. If you're paying £200+ for a night out, you want everything to be amazing'. We left feeling like it was a nice' night, the staff were great and we would visit again perhaps in 12-18 months to see what it was like but we wouldn't rush back next month."

Wonderful lunch in relaxed surroundings, driven by the staff. From the bread, asparagus starter and halibut was out of this world.

beautiful sunny day, so for a ride in the new forest, followed by lunch in the limewood hotel. before the opening of the restaurant we were treated with fizz and nibbles while we waited. with the lunch my wife chose peter from florenz gin. the longest list of gins we have seen and I had a glass albillo a delicious white from madrid. we had the chicken milanese (a solid favorit) but the warm chocolatemase with orange jamalade ice was the highlight.

Service was a bit erratic on our last visit , good food but you need to understand how to mix the menu up. We eat here reasonably regularly as we are local but you can mix options not only in price but also extend choice...by looking at the small dishes menu. It’s a great way to add pasta dishes and also give the ability to share and vary . It is time the menu had an overhaul or freshen up though. But I adore the beautiful room and there is not a bad table in the restaurant.

drinking was great at the arrival. sitting on the bar was also nice. we went to a Wobbly table where we ordered the food and drink more. wrong drink came and was changed after a few minutes. that was eating old. we are very salty and then the...mains (we had steak sharing) was very hard and rissly. we told the waiter that and everything was mentioned that he would hand it over to the chef. we are not coming back in a hurry. I would class it as glorified pub food with a beautiful bar and sitting area (bar wobbly table).

that was the best Italian meal I had in a very long time. my friend and I made a spontaneous journey to new forest in hampshire on a sunny weekend and came to the limewood hotel for lunch in the sun. I have heard that the hardnett holder restaurant was good, but I didn't expect it to lick this finger delicious! we shared some small dishes that were all without mistakes. the meatballs with polnta (20/20) we made in few seconds, which was incredibly delicate with linguini (20/20), the venison (17/20) was beautifully spiced, and the arancini (17/20) were one of the best I ever had. for dessert we had an amazing lemon tart (18/20), which, to be honest, I...read more

We had long wanted to visit Lime Wood, with one of the attractions being the restaurant as Angela Hartnett had put her name to it. We have long been great fans of her London restaurants. This didn't come close! The food was OK as far...as it went but felt a little safe, we expected to be wowed and just weren't. Sides were very disappointing and far too little, we had the steak one night and were given one small chips between the two of us. There was only vegetable option each night and it was the same -cabbage! Only one pudding was changed over the two nights. It maybe we were suffering from the continued issues of COVID, with a restricted menu, but this was far from what we expected. This c...

beautiful location, sat on the terrace with views of the sunny garden. service was also excellent. we have a lighter eating happy to lunch, as we also eat in the evening. we first only got the main restaurant menu (that's what we saw happened. all other tables too). but we asked ourselves about the small dish menus that were quickly brought to us and eaten from them. really good value and very tasty. we started with the arancini that were exceptional. some beautiful focaccia and ham while we waited for our appetizers along with a few alcohol-free cocktails. we shared some delicious smoked salmon and cured meat and then I had an amazing gnocchi with tomato, mozzarella and basilikum (the best...

the feeling that they get when they get away to their favorite holiday destination, the first warm of the sun on their face and their shoulders relax a few customs is how I feel when I go through the front door in lime wood . that is something I have often done and have done for many years. it is my home from home and there is a warm welcome every time. the personal is remarkable, they make them feel so incredibly special, they are friendly, natural and genuine. I love the atmosphere in the beautiful bar area, I think it is my native and I visit with many of my friends and family who also enjoy the experience. eating is always amazing and the desserts are from this world. I was recently over...

"My Wife and I don't travel so well these days but decided to go a little further afield from our usual Highcliffe and Christchurch haunts we live in Mudeford. We went twice in point of fact. The first visit was the 21st June when My wife and I had a quiet Birthday celebration lunch prior to the Family celebration later in the day. It was excellent. We only had the Mains and despite it being busy and not having booked we were served promptly and cheerfully with a round of drinks. My Wife had Chicken Pie and I had Liver and Bacon. Both were excellent and my Wifes vegetables were freshly done. I don't have vegetables. We liked it so much we went back three days later to celebrate our youngest Daughters birthday and again had lunch before the Family celebration later in the day. The meal was as fabulous as three days prior. My Wife had a Chicken Roast, our Daughter had Beef Roast and I had an amazingly well filled Steak and Merlot Pie of the Week. As before the vegetables were freshly done. Unusually for us we also had puddings (Lemon Meringue, Bailey's Cheescake and Apple Tart with Custard. All were excellent. All washed down with Tea and a Latte the former being served in nicely twee Teapots. Total cost £80 for the three of us on the second visit. Worth every penny. All in all First Class and couldn't fault it. Disabled parking nicely located in the front with ample parking for those more mobile at the side and back. Just a note for History buffs. The main building was built in 1853 by John Harrison(? a Carpenter thus the name Carpenters Arms."
