Hostellerie Du Grand Sully

Food was superb. Setting very formal. Make sure to book ahead because it is popular for local special events.

We were visiting castle around the area of Sully sur Loire and we found this small restaurant. We ate at the patio . they have wonderful cusine, french, and a also wonderful price.

The atmosphere was quite formal. Very good wines. The food was reasonable but not fantastic. The chef tries to be creative which sometimes leads to complex dishes with to much different flavours.

Great gastronomical food. Fair priced tasting menu. Only drawback is the cold atmosphere, perhaps just a little music would be better than the sound of the aquarium pump. Great selection of local cheeses, extensive local wine list.

I moved to the whole france and abroad for 30 years. the hostess of the great sully is the best value for money restaurant I know in france and I say after visiting several hundred establishments. Our first day in Sully sur Loire and recommended as being the best restaurant for dinner in town. Booking made for us by the hotel we were staying at (not this one). Pretentious greeting by the Maitre d' in over ornate surroundings for a town and location such as this. Meal was over priced and we left feeling underwhelmed.

Don't be put off by the red flock wall paper that reminds you of a 1980s indian restaurant. In fact it mirrors the wall covering found in the Chateau Sully (which is well worth a visit). The food was exceptionally good for the price we paid - 93 Euros for two 4 course menus , half a bottle of Sancerre and two Champagne cocktails. A little gem. David L

There are not many choices for restaurants in this town especially on a Sunday night. This was a pleasant surprise. The staff was attentive even though they were very busy, and the prices reasonable. We had Filet d' Agneau, Escalope de Turbot, Peche, a couple glasses of wine each and mineral water and a great dessert Valencay au Verre for around $80 Euros. Ver carta
