Excellent food, authentic service. The food was brought out by the cook herself. We arrived outside of business hours, at the late end of lunch, but that was not a problem.

The Restaurant il Merlo, located a few steps from the centre of Casciana Terme, is a rustic, elegant, refined setting, with lighting studied in pretty amphorae. The kitchen is creative, light Mediterranean, with high quality sliced specialties, cheeses and excellent first and second! Great service

Il merlo is a small family owned restaurant with an unassuming appearance. But hiding behind that modest facade is a good kitchen and helpful staff. We stayed for two evenings in Casciana Terme and went twice to Il Merlo. Food is honest and tasteful with a good selection of wines. The menu offers enough choice (menu accessible via internet so bring a phone… and prices are very reasonable. Best to book in advance. Ver carta

This restaurant is excellent ! Highly recommended by a traveller we met in Casciana, we took the leap and waited the required 30 minutes to eat here (the restaurant is small) we were so happy we did. Everything on the menu is superb we were a party of 5 and we sampled a lot ! The homemade pasta is out of this world with combinations of ingredients I’ve never come across before. The wine list has a selection of fabulous local wines ! Highly recommend !
