"When the waiter found out we were only going to spend about 30 euro, he told us to leave. This was mid-afternoon and there were few patrons at the cafe, so it is not like we took a table away from waiting people. We just wanted a snack and something to drink but that was not OK with this waiter. There was no "S'il vous plait" or smile, just a wave of his hand as if to say "Go sit over there." So we left. He makes the national reputation of French men as rude the ultimate truth."

Came for lunch with friends, we waited for 20min while servers told us they would there in "a minute". In the end no one came so we left. A tourist trap, to avoid

We've already had breakfast and lunch here as it is so convenient. I though the menu would be very 'touristy', but it is fresh and interesting, especially the day's specials. The service is charming and helpful.

First night in Avignon, after walking around for a few hours, we stopped in here. Knew better than to pick such a tourist trap spot, but we didn't care. Got we expected - average food - the steak quite disappointing. The service was friendly though - appreciated that.

This little cafe is situated just outside the Palace of the Popes. On a sunny day the square is filled with life and music and this is an ideal place to sit and soak up the atmosphere. The service is friendly, the prices reasonable and they do a great Ceaser Salad .. Yum Ver carta

Right in the heart of the tourist city this place is great for coffee or food.We were well looked after and e joyed decent food. A fraction over priced but could be worse given its location. In Britain they would have milked it for more!Great burger and menu enfant. We would go back

We had lunch here after visiting the Palais des Papes as it is in the square. The service was excellent and the food yummy. We really enjoyed our food: salade gourmands and the camembert with nuts. The prosecco was lovely too.We ate outside but the inside looked very nice too. My only concern would be the fact that the toilet seat was missing in the ladies!

Lunch time and we simply could not pass this restaurant by. Sitting outside under cover from the 35 degree heat with the Palais a few metres away, the view is draw dropping. We chose salads (Cesar and melon surprise) + 1 litre of virgin cucumber mohito. While the food was not as impressive as the view, it was tasty and a good choice on such a hot day. Cost was a little over E40 Ver carta

Came here for lunch after visiting the Palais des Papes with my partner. SERVICE Fairly quick serviceMAIN I have chicken caesar salad and a cocktail called "Le Spritz". My partner had chicken, mushroom and potato gratin and a beer. Both tasted really nice and were well presented.ATMOSPHERE/VIEW Right next to the Palais des Papes so good for views and people watchingOVERALL Very nice

Located in the shadow of the Palais du Pape, this restaurant is one of many to choose from in the square. In the middle of the tourist season, the service was fast, but took forever to get our check. We enjoyed the Greek salads with plenty of bread. Made the mistake of not clarifying our request for tap water, instead we got a 6 Euro bottle of water. Okay place to eat but more expensive due to height of tourist season.

"I'm a regular here, and I'm not the only one lol! This place is always packed, it's both a locals haunt and a place where well-advised tourists end up. I meet my friends here, I meet my colleagues here, I meet half the town here...And it draws out the locals every evening with good reasons! So, first off: Convenience. Just on the bank of the river, this place has it's own parking.Next, atmosphere: Clean shabby chic orientated decor, open central kitchen, usually pretty crowded, Italian chef.... This place has got the atmosphere where it should be for modern tasty Italian cuisine.Service: populated by hipster and punkette style waiters and waitresses, they might not be warm nor welcoming, but they polite and competent. The service is prompt and the wine suggestions correct.Food: my FAVOURITE part! I love Italian, and I just appreciate a place that does it right so much! Simple, clean, modern and tasty!Their pizzas are beyond a doubt the best in the region, special mention for the Bianca and the Cosi. Their pasta is mouth watering. But I always find the best on their menu to be their dish of the day (for example duck filet with apricots, tuna steak with Italian sauce, roast filet mignon...) and their veal schnitzel. In fact I am a regular to this place almost solely because of their veal schnitzel. Just gorgeous!Oh and their desserts.... Are just delicious, special mention for the raspberry-lemon-white chocolate parfait!Once again, this is not a budget eat-all-you-can low end pizzeria. The prices are midrange. But the cuisine is authentic and impeccable, the setting very pleasant, and it is definitely a place you will come back to after trying it once."
