The food quality and presentation at this pub are outstanding. However, accessing the restaurant from the parking area at the top can be a bit challenging. Overall, I would rate the service and location a perfect 5 out of 5.

Only commenting about Sunday Lunch. Went a few weeks ago and it was amazing. Today the roast beef was really tough. So disappointed. They have a new chef and I wonder if he has insisted on using his previous meat supplier!!! The service was good, and Jo was marvellous. We did bring the food to the waitresses attention. Service: 3

A very friendly welcome and a quiet hotel. Room felt like it needed a spruce up, with an upgrade to the furnishings. Bed was comfortable and all very clean. Rooms: Some elements of the room were clearly worn and in need of a little updating. Shower only produced luke warm water, so unusable. Lovely place to get away to from the city, great room great place to eat and the food is lovely, Excellent castle just up the road but have to travel a bit for more attractions, Phone signal is poor but they have free WiFi, Best to book attractions before you visit as we went late in the year and a lot were shut. We stayed in a family room where the ceiling fan was covered in thick dust, and when we turned it on, dust flew all over the place. The carpet at the bottom of the stairs to the family room was awful and very dirty. The bathroom had a cracked sink that posed a safety risk for our grandchildren, and the shower had mold issues. We were there for our son's wedding and really hope the new owners make significant improvements. On a positive note, there are lovely walking paths around the area. Overall, I would rate the rooms a 1.

Do not believe the 5 star reviews. This is the worst place we have ever stayed. The food is just thrown on the plate and horrible. Everything is old and stained Carpets are disgusting Staff are friendly but boy do they need training The mattress was too small for the bed It is closer to a student squat than an Inn And there are lovely places to stay in the area that are a lot cheaper DO NOT EAT OR STAY HERE Rooms: Very tired whilst clean our room was as if staying at a very poor relatives house Nearby activities: The area is amazing.
