Istra - Carta

we have just returned from istra enotek. we were there on the basis of assessments. the food we had was pretty good, but we went after two hours and the fish had not arrived yet. it was 45 minutes between the mushes and pasta and we waited. another 30 minutes before we left. we are american, where a roughly soon is followed by the next, so the problem with our expectations can be.

As long as you don’t expect to choose your food or drinks you will have a fab experience at this venue. The host spoke little English and we spoke awkward German but we managed to work out there was a fixed menu...... whatever the chef...was cooking that night. It was delicious seafood, best we’ve had in a while. Not cheap but worth the expense. Just go and have fun. And go with lots of room in your belly!

The restaurant name is Istra Konoba. Enjoyed lunch here very much. The waitress was very friendly and helpful and could explain to us Today's Menu in English (there is no menu card). We shared mussels and prosciutto as starters. The mussels were really fresh. And...seared trout was the main dish. It was so fresh it didn't need much seasoning. The price was reasonable at 14.80 Euros per pax. The place was packed and we were glad we called ahead to make s reservation. Ver carta

Got there by chance walking back to hotel with kids. This place is run by Croatian team and seafood is very fresh. Amazing menu- only 2 choices( set menu), we took #2 menu: tuna carpaccio, mussels, octopus pasta and fish plater+ malvazja Croatian white wine. Service slow and very good (they don't hurry you, you have time to enjoy food and company). You get water and bread for free. Quality of food is on the best Croatian level (we have tested a lot sailing there each year). Good atmosphere, kids happy, reasonable pricing. Highly recommended if you look for basic (fresh& delicious) seafood and you are not in a hurry.

How bad is it that one of my favorite things about Salzburg was a Croatian restaurant? Seriously one of the best meals of my life; this restaurant really shows you how sometimes the best things in life are the simplest. There isn't really a menu--you basically choose between three or four courses. But there's something to be said about only doing one thing and doing it really well. The atmosphere is lovely and cozy and the server very kind, giving us a quiet spot in the back so that our toddler didn't disrupt other customers. Indeed, the only downside of the meal is that he can't sit through three courses very well--we usually choose appetizer or dessert, rarely both, and had to leave before...

Wandering by foot around Salzburg we went to some of the Christmas Markets where my spouse met Krampus through his growls and tail whipping we had an excellent time. Later we met him unmasked and asked for a dinner recommendation he told us...about Istra Enotek a wonderful off the path Croation restaurant. We walked in without reservations and had a fabulous 5 course meal that was the envy of our tour group. Less cost and absolutely delicious. So much food and wine, we could not finish it. Very relaxed atmosphere where we got to interact with local Austrians who thought Americans were the novelty. Service top notch and dinner pace excellent. Our meal started with tuna carpaccio, thinly sliced fresh raw tuna with wafer thin radish, chives, olive oil dressing. Second course was mussels steamed on a scrumptious handmade pasta.
